The Kia EV6 is an innovative EV and the associated Kia Connect remote app has some excellent features.

Firstly from the app home screen Remote you can start climate control remotely setting the desired Climate Settings temperature
Image

Not only that, but you can also use Scheduled climate control to start climatisation in the vehicle 30 minutes before a departure time you set and also set the windscreen to defrost.
Image

Simply set your Next Departure Time in the Scheduled charging submenu 'Scheduled Climate Control" with your requirements.

And for further convenience, you can choose to the following options individually to suit your preferences
  • Defrost On - for the front windscreen
  • Side mirrors + Rear window heating
  • Steering wheel heating

So on those cold icy mornings, unlike an ICE vehicle there is no need to stand in the cold and de-ice your vehicle. You can head out to your car at the pre-schedule time with front windscreen, rear windscreen and the side mirrors defrosted, the car interior heated to your required temperature, and the steering wheel toasty warm ready for your journey ahead.

Better yet, this is a standard feature on all UK models (Air, GT Line and GT Line S). The screen shots shown are from the iOS app version 2.1.3 but the same great features are available on the Android Kia Connect App.

Additional details of this innovative feature available in the Kia EV6 Owners Manual supplied with your vehicle (pages 2-8 to 2-9).

Great system if it actually worked...

Set temp to whatever you want and watch it blow cold air around the car.. Sure they will sort it at some point but it is something that would be good to have working in winter!

How many departure times can you set at any 1 time?
Can you set a time for every day of the week and have it repeat continuously?

Tested this out yesterday, set heating at 25C, got an alert to say the car has finished pre heating, car was cold but it had done something, there was warm ish air and plenty of condensation inside on windows.... strange. Pre heat only works for 10mins right?. Did the car try and take the temp to 25C but ran out of time and stopped before it hit 25C

Yep - mine just blows cold air mists up window on the inside and I am then having to wipe them down with a microfibre so I can see to drive 😂 At least the steering wheel heats up.

Just tested out again at a temp that’s not so hard for the car to get to, 23C. Set in the app, started the heating process. Could hear the car was on, fans, clicking sound. After 7 mins got an alert saying nearly finished. Then after 10mins or so I got an alert saying it was finished. Went to the car, opened doors and it was very hot inside and like a jungle with condensation. At least heating works on. Schedule or from app. Wing mirrors seem warm, back windows seem warm, windscreen hot. All windows would need a wipe before driving. EV6 has a dehumidifier right? Read something about it. Anyway, if I then now set to 27C the car is unlikely to get to that temp on a cold morning in 10mins...

While showing images, I seem to have two boot lights... they don't turn in though. Any ideas?. See last image.

HA! I wish that was true!
I could do that with my MINI, alas not possible with my car built 1st September, had 3 infotainment updates, had 3 App updates had the ABS/TC update and the heating update HVAC STILL not right!
This last week I have tried on 3 separate days “pre heat” HRW, Wheel & mirrors heat up, cabin still cold, drove away from home, no heat despite turned up to 27 degrees.
I am getting so pi55ed off at KIAs inability to resolve this issue. It appears they are now not even responding to my emails (now 4 to Pall Philpott)
I wish I knew how to get them to resolve the issues!
Oh does anyone know how to get cool air out of the centre vents? All I can get is a trickle of warm air when heat IS available. I am unable to get a stream of cold air to my face. This was a feature available in a 1968 Ford Escort, why is it not there in a 2021 £52K+ car?

Hi Gordon,

I thought I would offer some empathy as a Kia EV6 owner who is also experiencing a fault with the climate control. For me it works fine when in the car and thankfully delivers heating, but neither the manual remote activation of climate control, nor the scheduled activation of the climate control work. So having gone from a 2017 Nissan Leaf where the scheduled control worked faultlessly (and de-icing was a thing of the past), I am having to sit in the car for 10 minutes on icy mornings to defrost the front window (note: the scheduled rear window defrost, and heated steering wheel does seem to work, but less important that the front windscreen defrosting).

The best thing to do I think is to report to your Kia dealer, outline the fault and allow them to fix it. The main positive things for my situation are:
  • This is a fault as the car is designed to for a pre-climate function.
  • The heating does work when activated from the car so I think this is probably more a software fault than a fundamental issue with the heating.

From experience of a software/app issue in a previous car (a new model Audi RS4) these things can take some time to fix (in that case it was 4 months), and while it is frustrating that a brand new model has a fault like this, evidence suggests that this a widespread problem - not just an issue with your car which should put pressure on Kia to fix for everyone.

I hope this is a helpful post, and I'll update this thread if my dealer has success resolving the issue.

All the best,

Warwick Boy

There is a decent work around found by EVOdessey ( Brian Devine ) to get preheat working . Basically make sure climate control is set to decent temp and on auto before you switch off car . Then when you want to preheat, use remote keyfob , lock car then within 4 secs press and hold " car on " button . Looks like a circle with arrow at end. This switches on car and activates heating for 10 mins. Caveat is you need to be within key range of car , but his video shows it working form upstairs bedroom. Other thing is it can't be plugged into charger as car won't switch on !

Link to his video

Seems to work with my GT Line, remote start button is on side of my fob as no driving controls on my level.

Agree with all of the above. I (apparently) have a new inverter and (apparently) the latest software..but remote and schedule pre heat still doesn't work.
Remote start as detailed by EvOdessey does work..half decent workaround for now.
Still don't know if anyone - especially people who also have new inverter - has got the remote pre heat working. Is everyone in the same boat or just select cars?

I would love more flexibility with the pre-heat options in the app (I have a Soul, but its exactly the same), basically I'd like the extra options you have under defrost (without turning defrost on, as my car is in a draughty garage, its never freezing, but neither is it warm inside) and have toggle options so I could get my perfect setup of heating on, heated steering wheel on, drivers heated seat on.

If you have an Apple Device use the app store app and search for "Kia Connect" and click on "update".

If you have an Android Device use the Google Play app and find Kia Connect and update the app.

Refreshing this thread. Is anyone else in the situation that the remote heating/scheduled heating on their EV6 is still not working.

I've had various standard software updates over the summer, but still not working, and the dealer was not aware of a definite fix. But I've booked it in for investigation.

Has anyone in the UK with this issue had it fixed, and is there anything to ask of the dealer. Winter is approaching and the pre-heat will soon be needed!

I have found that it works on standard heating but not if the “defrost on” box is ticked. Did this the other day. Car covered in mist so thought check all the boxes in the app. Windows, Mirrors, Steering wheel and defrost. Everything except “defrost on” fired. So tried again with everything apart from “defrost on” and it blow lots of hot air, and was firing this at windscreen. Need to do more test, but originally put it down as one of those things.

Does it need to be plugged in to work as well? I run the charging schedule from the charger not the car, so if it needs to be plugged in it won't think there is any.
Also does anyone know if this also pre-conditions the battery? Will running temp 30 mins before leaving improve range, beyond just saving the initial warming the car up bit?
