ICCU Failure After Recall

I had my EV6’s ICCU recall done early July, after which I had no problems.

However a few weeks later - during a French road trip - the car stopped charging on AC. At first I thought it might be a French charger issue, but after trying three different ones, and then getting the same problem on my home charger I booked it in. Fast forward to yesterday, the garage told me it’s ICCU failure, they got the part overnight, I just collected the car and all seems to be well.

I’m fortunate to have a great dealership who got the part very quickly, but I did have to wait 3 weeks for them to get me in with a courtesy car, during which time - as well as during the road trip - I spent about £200 more on charging than I otherwise would have, as I could only DC charge. I really love my EV6, and after 2.5 years of ownership it’s the best car I’ve ever lived with, but after 12v battery failure, tyre foam coming lose, multiple visits for recalls and software updates, and now this, I’m starting to become a little disillusioned with Kia. I know we’re early adopters as far as large EVs are concerned, but still….

Don’t blame you. I have the Ioniq 5 from 9/2021. Had the ICCU failure 8/23 at around 28,000 miles. Waited 3 months for replacement. Apparently it has a new product code number which means it is a new & improved part but time will tell. No issues with my replacement ICCU as yet in 1 year and 10,000 miles or so but the next few months will tell us, if this is yet another part that will fail again. You are lucky you have a good dealership. Mine has been appalling but I luckily have another nearby who seem a bit more clued up. Still love the car though but dread taking it to the dealer. But I think this feeling is felt by many owners of many car brands nowadays! Just hope it continues to stay reliable.
