Kia Connect Network Error

For almost a week I've been getting the following error when I try and use Kia Connect:

Network error.
Please try again later.
Please contact your service partner if the problem persists.(515)

I don't see any complaints about this online so I suspect, but am not sure as I didn't notice it for some days afterwards, that this might be as a result of installing the latest 230601 software update. I've tried resetting the head unit but no change.

Any ideas gratefully received!

Thanks for the suggestions but none worked although I didn't have access to another phone. I had already reset the head unit with no luck. It is however sorted. I went to the car with Kia Connect live on my phone. Then in the car I selected Home screen - Kia Connect - Settings - Reconfigure. Then turned the app off on my phone and turned it on again and everything is working. At least I'll know for next time.....

I must admit I found the Jaguar app far more reliable and useful than the Kia one. It allowed you to download data as a CSV file for instance. And amazingly it gave accurate miles per kWh consistently. A very basic task that Kia Connect is unable to do.

How did you come up with this?

My app has a very accurate consumption figures and most importantly extra information that is not available in another car as far as I know. I am guessing you don't know what the app shows.

I would suggesy you are looking at the App through rose coloured glasses. It is wholly inaccurate and inconsistent. Check it against data from an OBD2 reader.

I have (an obd2 reader, not the glasses  ).
And I am quite happy I understand what the data is showing me, as it makes sense and consistently I might add.

And to show what the Jaguar app could do, here are a couple of Excel sheets that I produced using the CSV download capabilities of the app.
As has been said earlier, the Kia app is only “good” if viewed through rose tinted glasses. An app from five years ago was more capable.

@J2T2 How much does the Jaguar cost by the way?

You keep comparing Kia and Jaguar, like they have anything in common to compare them on...

Kia has done a very good job with the app, but has done it on a shoestring. How do I know, because they have demonstrably gone out of their way to not double information. By that I mean if they have shown something on the infotainment, it is not in the app and vice versa.

The fact that I'm saying the app is good, doesn't mean that I don't see its limitations and problems. I can't produce and excel sheet with whatever from Kia, but it doesn't mean that the information is not available on the Kia's infotainment. You need to put in some effort and can get the info by hand.

Kia worldwide sales reached 2.9 million vehicles for $68.6 billion USD in revenue in 2022. Unit volume was up 5% year over year with global revenue up 17% and profit up 32%.

So Kia are not short of money. All I want is an app that does the basics correctly and reliably. It doesn’t. See earlier screenshot.

Have you tried pushing the reset button to the left side of the centre heating panel?

There was a problem with Kia Connect about two weeks ago which was sorted out centrally. This may have contributed as well.

You can also reconfigure Kia Connect within the user interface if necessary after you have tried the above.

That should confirm with whose account the car is set up.

I would second the proposal to remove the 12V battery for a short period.
A reset of the head unit does not always bring the modem back to life properly, which is likely the reason you're getting the network error message.

if the modem is not live, then route planning online from the car's on-board navigation will also not work. That would be an indication something's up with the modem.

That being said: a brand new car costing more than 40k? The dealer should have done this when collecting the car. Insist with them they fix it with you being present!
