Although winter is over since I while back, thought I could share a few takeaways from a test drive of the EV3 Long Range (GT Line) in northern Sweden a few weeks ago (when it was a bit colder, this winter was mild in Sweden).

  • Average consumption at 80 km/h: 19.2 kWh/100 km, estimated range with a full battery: ~406 km. Temperature: -3°C
  • Average consumption at 120 km/h: 23.8 kWh/100 km, estimated range with a full battery: ~327 km. Temperature: +5°C (yes, huge temperature difference as this had to be done further south as well...)
  • Charging: Maximum charging speed: 135 kW (compared to 128 kW stated by Kia — so higher/faster!). Overall, a high average charging speed. Charging from 10–80% took an average of 34 minutes during the test (compared to 31 minutes according to Kia).
  • Snow driving mode: A good feature that reduces acceleration/power to make driving safer, but it limits too much when driving uphill on steeper slopes (had to switch to Normal mode a few times)
  • Overall impression: Very positive. For this price range, the interior/materials/build quality feels great (with some minor exceptions). Drive and handling is well balanced. Overall more spacious interior than what one would guess by looking at the car from outside. A bit too much wind/road noise at speeds above 100 km/h and the ride becomes a slightly less comfortable than expected.
If anyone would be interested to see the full range test, the link is in my signature :)
