Leaf 40 software upgrade

The Zap Map website is reporting a software upgrade for the Leaf 40kwh model to address the Rapidgate issue:

Longer range Nissan LEAF E-Plus confirmed for 2019 - Zap-Map

Can anyone confirm this with a statement from Nissan?

Is there a way to find out the current software version in my Leaf 40?

Apologies if I’ve missed this discussion in another thread.

Thanks

Not heard anything official, but my Leaf 40 goes in on Tuesday to be checked by my local dealer, organised by the ‘managing directors office’ of Nissan due to my complaints regarding the charging issues.

I wonder what they will find. I’m not expecting there to g s problem with the car, but if there is an upgrade I wonder if they will know about it? They didn’t know about the grabby brake update until I told them about it a couple of years ago on my Leaf24.

They didn’t know about the grabby brake update until I told them about it a couple of years ago on my Leaf24.
Sorry to hijack the thread but is this the brakes being slow to respond when first pushing the pedal and then having a point where they are suddenly applied harder?
I asked if there was anything that could be done with mine and told they couldn't.

I suspect - but don't know - that this is a combination of sloppy language and sloppy thinking.

I think that somewhere the BMS upgrade for the 30kW Leaf (which is definitely being done) has been confused with sorting out rapigate on the 40kW Leaf. It seems unlikely that rapidgate can be fixed just with software.
It would be very easy for Nissan to clarify the situation - even if it's not all good news................?

My Leaf went into the dealer today to have the throttled charging looked at (I had complained on twitter) They also checked my radar as I thought there was a problem.

They did a software update, but they said this should have been done at PDI and hopefully sorted the radar out. I will find out tomorrow. As for the software update, I have no idea what it was. Yet. Maybe my contact at the managing directors office will be able to enlighten me.

On setting 3 it was less than 2 seconds behind the vehicle in front, so, too close. I’ll find out tomorrow if it is any better, as I will be using the wonderful M23 again. I seem to live on it!!!

Hmmmm not certain if believe the software update line from them. A common IT line to get rid of the person sometimes ("We've ran an update....see how it goes now" typre thing) Shame there's no way (that I can tell) to check what firmware the car is running.

Likewise, some cars, like my own, are done at a 3rd party PDI centre, which is why they end up without TCU activated etc as they haven't got the capability

Edit :

I wonder, has anyone tried this yet to see if works on the Leaf 40?

I wonder if the submenu "Version Information" will give any info

(I'm also wondering if it will enable the 360 camera when driving

I tried the code combo on my 40kwh...doesn't seem to work - guess they've changed the combo (that and the buttons are laid out differently)

TVEV......that's a shame if that's the case. If any 24/30 users decide to try, read whilst searching - that music has to be turned OFF before pressing the combo for it to access that menu.

Would like to see what information is given on the Version Information page if only could figure out how to access it

Just tried the diagnostic sequence on my 40kWh N-Connecta and it seemed to work as described.

Here are the 'version' screens:-

@ArchDweller What did you press, exactly, because I followed the instructions in the video and nothing happened.

With the car off, I pressed the start button once to turn on the screen (without the brake pedal), then after accepting the first screen, Map button 3 times, followed by Vol/Push twice (which he calls the 'car' button - but it's a separate button that has that symbol on the 30) then Map button once. Nothing happened. Picture:

Well glad it worked for someone. Couldn't get it working at all the other day. Tried both stationary and whilst moving. Making sure audio was turned off before starting etc. The only thing is I tried with car in full power on mode (though I'd expect it would need to be in that mode anyway, as can't drive otherwise etc)....must be a knack to it!!

Will be interesting to see if software version varies between us, both in 2.zeros and the Teknas etc

Hello all and good evening, I have a leaf 40, 2.zero so I don't know if this works for all model variants but I can access the secret diagnostic menu by following this procedure:
1. Foot on the brake pedal and power up. (you can take your foot off the brake pedal afterwards)
2. Turn the radio off.
3. Press and continue to press (keep pressed) the MENU button
4. While keeping the MENU button pressed, turn the radio volume button anti clockwise at least 2 turns.
Hey presto the secret diagnostic menu appears.

Disclaimer. I accept no blame whatsoever in any shape or form for any havoc or mayhem you may inflict on yourself by making any unauthorized adjustments. (particularly "Feverdog")

That worked for me on a 2.zero Can't imagine how you discovered that!

Here’s what I did to access the hidden menu in my Leaf 40.
It makes no difference whether the car is switched on with the brake pedal pressed or not.
I first made sure that the audio was switched off.
Then press Map three times. Then press Push Vol button twice, such that first press switches audio on and second press turns it off again (you might need to do this step a bit more slowly as the system seems to be a bit slow to turn the audio on then off). Then press Map button once.
It took a few attempts to get this right, but the key seems to be to fully lift your finger off the buttons after each press, so that the number of presses is correct.
Hope this works for you all.

Very sorry that it didn't work for you, must be very frustrating, the only thing I can suggest is try again and really spin the volume control. I tried it again this afternoon and found it worked by spinning the volume control in either direction, works clockwise as well as anticlockwise.

I cannot understand why the same vehicle would have different menu access systems other than it's a case of older and newer units.

Thanks Dave. The spinning method worked for me. I was trying a few clicks to the left etc at first, but when that didn't work, started again and just kept spinning it and it came on :)

I wonder why its different for some people

Mine is a Leaf Tekna

Comparing now to @ArchDweller there are 2 differences :

ITM Software : 094
ITM Part Number : 5SJ1A
ITM Configuration Part Number : 5SJ6A

CAN uCOM Software : 15
Front Display Software : 008
Bluetooth Firmware : 6008
Voice Recognition Engine : 4.3.2-0.3.6
Voice Synthesis Engine : 001.005.001
Version : 00005121
Voice Synthesis Data Version : 00005130
Map Version : 17/01/26/01
TCU Hardware : 433039
TCU Software : 423235
Cluster Hardware : 000303
Cluster Software : 030001
DAB Software : 1020
Power Micon Software : 102

Differences appear to be in relation to a 'part' rather than software - so guessing maybe physical hardware somewhere.....but by all accounts looks to be the same

What would be really interesting to see....would be some of these Leaf 24s that are going in for the recall/software update for the battery....if anyone has the foresight to do a before and after comparison snapshot of these screens

Hello @Feverdog, very pleased it worked for you in the end, my screen is set out below:

TM Software : 094
ITM Part Number : 5SJ0A
ITM Configuration Part Number : 5SJ5A
CAN uCOM Software : 15
Front Display Software : 008
Bluetooth Firmware : 6008
Voice Recognition Engine : 4.3.2-0.3.6
Voice Synthesis Engine : 001.005.001
Version : 00005121
Voice Synthesis Data Version : 00005130
Map Version : 17/01/26/01
TCU Hardware : 433039
TCU Software : 423232
Cluster Hardware : 000303
Cluster Software : 030001
DAB Software : 1020
Power Micon Software : 102

The ITM part and configuration is the same as ArchDweller but as you said, yours is different.

TCU Software : 423232 is different

My vehicle was constructed first week in March 2018 so the TCU software has been up dated since this date.

Perhaps individuals who manage to gain access to the diagnostic menu could take a digital picture of the data page for comparison with any software changes, when their vehicle is put in for maintenance or service.
