Life Pro Performance or Life Pro?

We are looking to lease a 58kwh version of the ID3

The 107 kw Life Pro seems to be a good deal cheaper than the. 150 kw Life pro performance. Over £20 a month over 48 months. On calling the dealer he tells me there is no difference in the spec other than the lower powered car takes 2 more seconds (9.6) from 0 to 60

I’d appreciate anytime thoughts on whether the extra expense is worth it.

And what range does the 58kwh car deliver. My current Leaf 40 will often give 4 miles per kw in the summer and 3 to 3.50 in the winter

One other thing. In the 58 kWh ID 3 is 200 miles plus easily achieved?

Thanks in advance

I’ve a life pro. It was £1500 cheaper when I got it - and 99.99% of the time I don’t wish it had the extra oomph. It’s just as quick to 30/40 I believe but tails off after that compared to the more powerful one. Still plenty for me.

efficiency: I got my car in July - and my summer into autumn long term average was 3.6. I reset in November and it’s presently 3.1.60/40 motorway / other split.

200 miles is no problem in Summer - in winter more like 180 from 100% though with careful driving you could eek that up to 200. This time of year I’m getting about 150 miles between charges on a long trip (that’s going from 85/90 to 10% or so - I’ve not gone lower 😁).

Depends what power you’re used to and therefore what you expect.

In my case that was a 231bhp C-class Mercedes, needless to say I have the 150kW motor in my ID.3.

As for range, my long-term average is 3.3m/kWh, so an average 100% range of just over 190 miles - but I do a lot of shorter journeys so mine is probably worse than many in winter.

According to the data on laptimes submitted by a German magazine, 0-30mph there is nothing in it, 30-50 mph there is about a second in it and on to 62mph another second and a bit. It’s 3.5 seconds difference up to 75 ish mph. So around town it will be great but it’s that motorway slip road performance it might not be that great at. I personally love how easily the pro performance can make space on the motorway if you need to. If most of your driving is not on motorways I probably wouldn’t bother.

3miles/kWh in winter and 4 in summer seems to be a realistic expectation. Particularly for an experienced BEV driver. As you will know from your LEAF the actual figure you achieve depends on speed, head/tail wind, rain, use for heater/AC, etc.

200 miles should be achievable easily in summer and would require careful driving in winter.

It will depend how enthusiastically you drive. Although the leaf 40 is only 110kw it hits 60 in 7.5 seconds, so a similar time to the performance. Would you be happy dropping 2 seconds on what you have? Is the difference worth £20 a month to you?

I drive my leaf to preserve battery, with the Eco setting on, and accelerating gently, with the only time I ever push it being overtaking slow vehicles on country roads. Despite that I like having the acceleration there in reserve.

Worst we've had so far is on 4th and 5th Dec a 150 mile motorway trip each way. Charged to 90% both times and averaged 56mph over each journey with air-con off light pedal and no speeds over 70mph. on arrival had 12 mile remaining and on return 3 miles.

however in normal condition i have a heavy right foot and mainly do 5-20 mile journeys. i think our average is 3.1 m/kwh over 7k

Thanks everyone

FYI this morning I ordered a Life Pro Performance on a 4 year lease. £284 per month and 6 months down. 8000 miles per annum.

Its advertised as June delivery but I’m told that realistically it may well be a good few weeks or months after that. I’m OK with that situ as my Leaf lease doesn’t finish until September . Apparently these cars have already been ordered but no details of any build date as yet.

Now to start reading all the various ID3 threads :)

I ordered an ID.3 Tour in July 2021. Its build week is currently week 40/2021, so has supposedly been "in build" at the factory for over 15 weeks. My dealer is unable to give me any indication of when the vehicle might escape the factory. Life and Family models seem to be flowing slightly more easily, but I strongly suggest you consider planning ahead for options in the worst-case scenario of your Leaf lease ending and your ID.3 not being available.
