I recently read in Top Gear magazine that they have just taken on a new Volkswagen ID.3 on long-term test. This car is in the same bracket as the Megane e-tech but I was struck by how much extra you have to pay to match the Meg's standard equipment..
List is £37,430, similar to a Techno+, but the options they have added are :
£1,725 exterior pack (matrix headlamps, tinted rear glass) - standard on the Meg
19-inch wheels at £1,120 - the Meg get's 20"
Keyless entry with rearview camera for £985- standard on the Meg
A heat pump is also an option for an unspecified amount. And the driver's display is much smaller and more basic than the Meg's so you can't have the nice SatNav display in front of you.
Why would anyone choose the ID.3?
