AFAIK the phone also generates a new card number for every transaction. This catches out some badly configured rapid chargers. I think there is another device ID or something that is also passed across which the charger should use to recognise that its the same phone. But if instead they look solely at the card number, it wont match.

Thanks for the reply!
Yes I've read it but I was wondering what of you are at a public charger where you can not turn it the charger off and can also not stop the charging from the charger as you described on the Tesla SUC, where payment was done not via app but via credit card. So how on earth would you be able to stop charging and disconnect when you feel like you've changed enough.

Just got my Ariya yesterday and now I'm a bit worried. Before I was driving a Tesla and just stopping or unlocking from the car was so easy...

In the first post the fix is given. Lock and then unlock the car:

Their first advice was to press unlock on the key fob, but as I’d already tried that they suggested locking and then immediately unlocking the car to see if that would free up the cable.

It did! 🍾

Thanks again for you reply! Really appreciate it.

I got the first post, locking and then unlocking. But that is for an AC charger or when it is not charging and you're trying to unplug. Or am I missing something?

My scenario is that the charging is till ongoing. So does it mean every time you lock and unlock the charging stopps? Otherwise you would be unplugging DC while charging is still going on and I just can't imagine that's a good idea since DC voltage will arc if you just unplug while current is still going.

May not be applicable to the Ariya, but one trick I read elsewhere was to reduce the target % charge to be below the current SOC of the battery to stop DC charging.

Well I have an Ariya and I was once in the same situation at a DC charger. The advice remains the same. However, I did have to try locking and unlocking more than once to release it. If the worst comes to the worst and it doesn't, then just ring the CPO's number on the unit as they may be able to release it from their end. I don't believe you would ever be able to release whilst it is charging, so again a call to the CPO is the answer if you can't stop the charge. On some units there is an emergency stop button too. I have heard they can sometimes need twisting to release it before you can press it. I would ring the CPO before doing that though and take instructions from them. I believe an emergency stop would require the CPO to reset after it is pressed. Others may no more about that.
