It says Nissan (UK) charging is partnered with Octopus Electroverse, is this quite new? Has this changed for existing Nissan users? (i.e. Leaf)

An R5 in a frock, like an Audi A3 was a Golf in a frock. But will it be girly enough, the females in my family think the R5 too masculine?

 

I was planning to wait and see what the New Leaf was going to offer, although some of the images discouraged me.

I have now gone in a completely different direction.

It does seem to be an R5/Mini cross from those images.

I expected it would be a bit more than an R5 with less attractive light clusters but ok! I guess the Micro/Nissan has it's own fanbase

I note that this has regen paddles, something missing on the R5. Presumably they will appear on the 5 at some point. After all the R4 has them.

 

Also say that given Nissan were one of the first on the market with EVs in the shape of the Leaf. And even the Renault side with the Zoe. It is a shame they are now having to play catchup. But what I have seen from Nissan and Renault is very good.

Why would you buy this over an R5, I guess it depends who is building them...

 

Renault are building them and my wife would have this over the R5 because she doesn't want to drive round in a car that looks like its colour choice was based on a childs felt tip set..... and whoever thought only being able to have heated seats and steering wheel in an R5 meant having yellow seats (or spending extra on the Roland Garros) was a good idea must still be a teenager (my wife's words not mine)

 

They're coming out of the same factory.
If people do buy the R5 over this, maybe there'll be discounts available.
The trouble they'll have is that 6 months old R5's will be available by the time this comes out.
It's going to depend how the R5 residuals hold up.

 

The red looks pretty good to replace our flaming red Leaf local runabout.

Important questions from wife:
heated seats?
heated steering wheel?
360 camera?
5 seats?

 

They say it had Pro Pilot which is their autopilot. I hope it has one pedal mode too. It's bizarre that they took that out of the Ariya.

 

The biggest advantage of all the siblings (Micra, R5 and R4) is that they are coming with heat pump for all the trims. However, from the information available so far only the top trim will get heated seats and no one ever mentioned heated steering wheel.

 

It's very much on the radar to replace the slightly too big for us id3.
I just wish they'd hurry up- been waiting on this compared to the R5.

As for all this stuff about colours and girly cars, that's probably why I play women's football and we all drive nondescript colours. Buying second hand and the cheapest new means you don't get a choice anyway!

 

My wife hates every colour for the R5 apart from the Alpine..... Hoping the Micra is more suited to a non twenty something

 

What's wrong with the blue, black or white R5? It's really only the in your face green and yellow that are controversial IMHO.

 

Some early photos showed the Micra in a light metallic blue, lovely colour.
Looks like they all have a black roof regardless of colour.
As it is I'd take the mid blue.

 

In the Electrifying video they implied the two tone was extra. Maybe it will be different at launch.

Happy memories of our CVT petrol micra, just like a go cart hope the electric one can be as much fun. Very interested in micra but will wait for test drive and pricing. Looks a fun car wonder what customers Nissan are aiming it at.

 

My wife and I are only really interested in how comfortable are the seats. Unfortunately small cars have small upright uncomfortable seats - i call them Chinese seats.

 

I wouldn't describe the Micro/5 as small though. Maybe by modern standards but it looks quite chonky.

 

Come the end of the year these will be VERY cheap on lease and early next year VERY cheap to buy pre-registered.

I almost feel sorry for the car companies. They basically must build EVs and they must sell EVs when clearly the vast majority of people, plus the car companies, just want the status quo.

 

I don't think the vast majority of people want the status quo at all, but the anti EV media would have you think that to be the case. Some people are just cautious before changing to newer technology and will wait until significant adoption has already happened before following into it, but they're not anti EV, that's just a hard core minority.

As for car companies, I don't feel sorry for them one jot, especially the ones who tried to make the whole EV thing just go away! In any business you have to adapt to meet a changing world, if you can't, you fail and those who can replace you. Sadly in the case of the motor industry, it's going to be the Chinese who now dominate.

 

Been hearing the "EVs will be dirt cheap in 6 months" war cry for the past year.

They already are if you find the right deals of course.

 

New prices are still inflated. 18-24month prices are far more realistic now. But that is only when compared to other cars relative to the post-COVID price spike.
