This looks good value for a "smart" but basic charger. I was going to ask if anyone had any experience of it, but then realised the webpage says shipping April 2023.

One to watch out for I guess. I wonder if they have their pricing right, as the 22kW version is £300 more expensive.

I've seen their dumb chargers before, but I believe they are no longer allowed to be installed, so how are they still being sold?

The manufacturer of this, is I believe Rolec. We have 2 Rolecs in the family, installed in 2016/17 as there was not an awful lot of choice in those days, but have been beset my problems with both of them. Cheaply made and often faulty.
I think it is their business model. Build cheaply and then make a living selling spare parts to keep it going. This one looks nicely designed and you would think it would be built better than the original Rolec, but once bitten etc...

Any visitors to the Fully Charged show will have seen that EVOneStop have a special offer of this charger for £349 incl type 2 cable. I've gone ahead an pre-ordered one, as it seems to be good value (providing their reliability has improved). I've used the credit card payment option , that way if there are any supply issues, I am covered.

I've no link to the company - I just need a cheap charger!

Hahaha - in their instructions they have literally included a screenshot of the Myenergy wiki on how to install CTs - Its a copy of zappi v2 installation | myenergi UK

It doesn't look like a screenshot to me. They are similar diagrams, are showing the same components, but that is how you attach CT clamps. What's an "UPPLY GRID" ;)

For them to have created that from scratch and placed all the components in exactly the same place with the CUs having exactly the same colouring to then look the same as the Zappi one. It's a copy and they have just changed the wording. Having looked at install instructions for many units over the last month none of them look the same, they typically look totally different (even tho many are doing exactly the same) except this new one.

I don't know if anyone else has one of these but I bought one to replace a 5 year old rolec that failed. I'm in the middle of a bit of a nightmare with it, it will only charge at 10a, despite dip switches and app settings all correct. Customer service is appalling and the tech who I was talking to has now ghosted me. Luckily I have a 32a commando socket which I can use with the mobile charger from the car to charge at full speed in the interim but can't help feeling that I should have spent a bit more money on a different unit.

The charger is OK, technical support line didn’t pick up had to go through the wholesaler to get Rolec technical call back, they finally did. Can confirm an error on their set up manual when setting up the input order which essentially is a setting in the app for the fuse rating of the suppliers cut out into the property. If you have the CT connected to measure the current being used to the property the manual says use HOME100 for a 100amp fuse but this is wrong, technical explained the setting only accepts the first 2 digits so HOME100 is actually 10 amps. Using HOME99 resolved the problem and the charger works as expected at 32A / 7.4kW. App is basic but does the job, schedule chargers, check charge history etc.. unit looks aesthetically modern and compact.

Just had one fitted and it won’t do a schedule charge, it goes into pause mode. Reset the app several times and still won’t charge. Tech services at Qubev won’t talk to me as I’m the customer of the installer. The installer won’t answer my calls, I now have a new charger that won’t work and nobody to help. Does anybody have advise!

I bought a Rolec QUBEV Smart because it had a wired network connection. I knew the Wifi was flaky where the charger was to be installed. I paid the electrician extra to run an Ethernet cable back to my router.

When I came to set up the charger there seemed to be no way to set it up without giving it Wifi details. I did this, then it constantly went on and offline and complained about a weak Wifi signal. The wired connection was active (connection on the router, a DHCP address given out and you could ping the charger), but it didn't seem to be using that and there is no way to manage it without Wifi.

With poor Wifi it kept dropping offline, wasn't reporting charging stats properly and on one occasion completely failed to charge the car overnight using the timer.

I ended up buying a Wifi booster and it's been OK since, but if you need a wired network connection, don't go for this device.

I'm pretty annoyed as I feel that it's been misrepresented. I ended up both paying to have an Ethernet cable run and paying more to buy a Wifi repeater.

I've sent two messages, both to the supplier (Evonestop) and manufacturer. Both with no response.

Mine packed in now after 2 Months, as everyone says Rolec support is not contactable! Go else where and save your sanity! Has a great potential but with poor customer support this will only be the start of the end. Only went with Rolec as have been specified on previous projects and came with good features - will ensure not specified again! Switched to a Ohme Home Pro and integrates with my electrical utility supplier, so far so good. Good luck if you have this charger!

Anyone else experiencing issues with this charger. Thinking about buying one for my workplace to charge the works run around site van.

Don't need anything fancy like smart charging tariffs etc. But will need all the latest safety features and also will need the dynamic current monitoring built into the charger.

For the money of £330ish for untethered and £400 for tethered you can't go wrong. But if it is an unreliable peice of junk then obviously it will be worth spending the extra £250-300
