New ZOE.. ZE Services Activation code?

Picked up my Dynamique Nav yesterday and have been enjoying any excuse to drive it! :)

I've been trying to activate the ZE Online services but I wasn't supplied any activation code as part of the car handover.

Was this something the dealer was supposed to have supplied to me? I can't charge on Economy 7 times or access the preheat settings remotely, which is a bit annoying.

If not, can Renault give me the activation code over the phone?

The dealer is meant to give you the code.

I got mine from renault customer care team as a had been dealing with them but when I try to sign up it says my code is invalid so a think another phone call needed

P.s picked my Zoe up last Thursday night, I also find any excuse.... picked her up with 5 miles on the clock. Got 180 currently

Hi @essayer and Welcome,
Yeah dealer should of given you the code, takes a few days to kick in after you activate unfortunately.
Enjoy Zoe :)

Be warned, you'll only have charge timer and remote preheat for 1 year from activation. It's ÂŁ80 a year there after if you want the feature.

Feel free to download the dire ZE Services app and leave a rating on a. How poor the app is, b. That it's not reliable and c. The apps free but its ÂŁ80 to activate functionality a year (rip off).

;)

That's not my experience. After 16 months both those services are working fine and I haven't paid for anything. Though I agree that the current Zoe brochure does say that those services are only included for 1 year!

Took 3 months to get mine, anyone reading this before buying, don't leave the dealer without it. The dealer service is dire!

Worked for three weeks, then failed to connect. Apparently it needs to go to dealer now for rectification; last time I booked it in, turned up to "sorry should have told you we don't touch electric cars".

Not sure whether I will bother getting it fixed...

Dealers are naughty if they do not provide the activation code when you pick up the car. You then use it on the ZE web site to activate all the other features, but as said above, it can take a day or so. I have have it working fine for over 2 years without any additional payments.... The app had an "upgrade" a few months ago, and when down hill a bit, but they had released some fixes and it is better now, and has been working fine for me ever since.

Hi essayer, if you have already a My Renault account, you should receive the activation code via email, not as a printed letter from the dealer. The email is issued upon the dealer activating the Z.E. Inter@ctive/Z.E. Connect.

I had a rough time with Renault to get my activation code, 3 months, until I realised that the email reached the spam folder :/

I have no idea now.
I called Renault, they said that the services weren't all registered, and they'd have to cancel then set it up for me again. The dealer says they're all registered. So now I am fobbed off with 'wait 72 hours and they will be sent to you'.

I have a copy of the Connected Services contract but I don't think the agreement number (GB then 8 numbers) is the same as the ZE activation code. It certainly doesn't work when registering.

Renault CS also mentioned rather casually that some ZOEs need to be taken to the dealer to be reprogrammed before ZE services will work. I'll be VERY annoyed if this is the case!

It shouldn't be this difficult...

hi essayer,

the code should look like this (this one will not work, don't worry, changed a few characters :p):
DEKEFObG5d

It's likely that the DE at the beginning stands for Germany (Deutschland = DE), so probably yours will start with GB. But it should be both characters and digits overall, not GB and then 8 numbers.

Looking at the timestamp of when the email was sent out, it looks to me that it was issued at the moment when the request was sent to Renault's servers, not when the service was finally activated.

As a side note, here's a rough translation from German of part of the email, something that may help you:

====
Activate your services

1. Please log into your My Renault customer area under Renault Deutschland - Passion for Life (probably renault.co.uk in your case)
2. Select the menu item "My R-Link contracts" from
3. Click on the submenu item "Z.E. contracts"

Within the next 72 hours, the Z.E. be Services enabled on your computer and the contract status changes from "in activation" in "active". Once the contract status is checked, you can proceed with the following steps:

4. Create a user account in www.services.renault-ze.com Z.E. Customer Portal:
5. Click "Create Account"
6. Fill in the fields (the required Zugangscde see this email)
and click "Preview"
7. Check your entries. Are these correct, click "Submit"
8. To complete the creation of your account, open the confirmation email
"Welcome to My Z.E. ONLINE", you get sent to your specified email address
have and click on the link in this email.
9. Check again your details and click "Submit"
10. Your account has been created.
11. Log on www.services.renault-ze.com, to access your account.
Now you get all Z.E. specific information to display.
Use also our "Z.E. servces" app for your smartphone.
====

Once you have the My Renault account, do you see the R-Link contracts? You should have the following by default:
1. Z.E. Connect
2. Z.E. Inter@ctive
3. TomTom Live Services

Good luck!

Thanks. I've just registered a new R-Link account matching the email I gave the dealer when ordering the car.

This shows "GBA Service" and "My ZE Inter@ctive" as "Activation in Progress". I don't see TomTom live but I see "UK and Republic of Ireland" mapping, purchased the day I picked up the car, is that TomTom live? The car does have live traffic enabled, I think.

I'll keep an eye on it and see if that changes soon!

"My Renault" design has changed this week, but here's what I see in my account regarding ZE Connect and Inter@ctive.

You should only see two, in my case the dealer made a mistake and activated first for only 12 months instead of 36.

For the Live Services, I see it under R-Link -> My Products like this:

I can't change the language to English, but I reckon it's understandable. Live Services (traffic info) is separate from the maps, that's because LIVE Services requires a valid contract, and hence payment, for a time frame (yearly basis or 3 years), while with maps I believe you get updates for the lifetime of the car (maybe someone can correct me here).

I strongly believe that by default you should have 12 months of Live Services, courtesy of Renault and TomTom, so that you get hooked to the idea and next year renew the contract :p

Hmm thanks for the screenshots.
I don't see any of those in My Renault (UK), just links to Battery Hire, My ZE Online and R-Link, all of which seem to operate independent logins from the main Renault site o_O

Checking the car, in Navigation Services I have Traffic and Speed Cameras enabled, while Places, MyTomTom LIVE and Weather are disabled.
In the app store, nothing much seems to work.
Interestingly, in network status, the SIM shows as Disconnected; not sure if this is relevant.

#15 ·
@essayer your SIM showing as disconnected is relevant. You should get a button on R-Link pop up at some point asking you if you want to activate your services. If you've already accepted this, you should be able to connect and then tomtom live etc. will work. Check that you've activated data sharing from the option in R-Link, as you will not be connected unless you have agreed to this option.

We had to re-boot our TCU by removing a fuse (31 I think) but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're confident, it seems to be quite easy to drop the fuse when trying to re-insert it. There are threads here or on myrenaultzoe.com forum about how to do this, with pics of the fuse box. Once I'd done this I got the activate services and share data options. We still don't have ZE services yet though and car needs to go back to dealer to have a full battery re-set.

#20 ·
Check your ZE inter@ctive on the my ZE page and report back the expiry please.

#22 ·
ZE interactive expires in 21 days, so 1 year after my activation. ZE connect with navigation expires 751 days so must of been 4 years from dealer registration.

#23 ·
Yes ZE Inter@ctive is the one you need to do charge programming, remote charge start, remote heater activation.... you normally get 1 year on that. Mine expired on 15th April.

My ZE Connect with Navigation doesn't expire for 698 days.

#24 ·
Did you renew interactive? I'm in two minds. think you would loose start/end of charge emails/texts too? I like the notification in case of charge fail while away from car.

#26 ·
Did I heck! ;)

I went onto Google store and updated my review of the donkey balls app to highlight that although app is free all the functionality is at cost.... everyone should refuse to update! If we stand together then Renault will reduce the price (hopefully to free).

#25 ·
I now see more services in r-link products and all are "Activation In Progress" since yesterday..
I have the activation code but it's showing as invalid, according to Renault CS it won't be valid until after activation.
Not a good system .. Haven't hit the arbitrary 72 hours yet so who knows.

#29 ·
I bought my car in January. Gave up trying to get the activation code in March. The dealership say they don't have it. Renault say they can't sort it and I need to get the code from the dealer. Got bored of the circular arguments.

It's only the app stuff I'm missing out on anyway. From what I've read, I'm not missing much...

#30 ·
To conclude.. it's all working now!

On Friday the dealer checked into things and confirmed that the TCU needed reconfiguring before things would work. I dropped the car back, they lent me a car and did the work, then brought my car back later that day. So credit to them!

While they were working on it, the ZE Connect, TomTom Live, Coyote went to Activated and I was able to set up my online ZE account.

ZE Inter@ctive took one more day and started working yesterday, I got a whole flood of 'activation' messages on the car 24 hours later and all the charge timer / preheat settings became available on the app.

There is an issue with recent ZOEs apparently, some need this TCU work. I'm sure my dealer will check now, but if you are collecting a new car don't leave the dealership without:
- the paperwork containing the activation code (alphabetical code starting GB)
- check the Settings / Network Status page to confirm it says 'Connected', I believe without this working the car cannot communicate with Renault central servers to activate the ZE services.
