Kia Niro EV on Intelligent Octopus still not resolved and my Go contract finishes in a month.
Has anyone heard any news from Octopus at all around this?

I just renewed my Go, and am waiting for IO to be ready

edited: within a couple of weeks of renewal, the overnight 4 hours has dropped to 9p and my export has risen to 8p……as you probably know, Go is not a fixed product anymore.

I am still using IO to charge my Niro EV, and have no real problems.

There is one anomoly that still throws me. When Octopus set the schedule they always send 2 identical schedules. Then when it starts it always sends an "unable to control device" message even though it charges the car ok.

My son-in-law is also on IO, he has an Ioniq 5, and never gets such notifications, although he uses an iPhone and I use Android - wonde if that is the reason?
I have the same experience with my Niro EV and as you say, the charging is completed as per the IO schedule and to the specified %.

Hello,

I've entered my details into IO to see if my Niro is compatible. Kia Niro EV with PodPoint Solo Charger - and it say that this set up isn't?

Is that correct? Any way around this? I've been paying a LOT for my energy since getting the EV at the back end of March. Done 15k miles in since then, for context.

Any help would be appreciated.

I believe Kia's are currently not being allowed to on board with IO, and the ones that have previously done so are using dumb charging for fear of flat 12V batteries.

Is the pod point a supported charger? If it is, you can do what I did and sign up anyway (with my Kia Soul) but knowing that I can only use dumb charging except at the weekends when I can plug and unplug the car to avoid battery drain.

If it's not supported, have you looked at Octopus Go?

I've been happily on Go for a month now. My EVSE is as dumb as a rock, and My e-niro 2 has no wireless capability at all, so IO is a non-starter. The car's charging timer, however, seems 100% reliable, and the off-peak period is more than enough for my mileage. And 9p/unit is a lot better than the 27p/unit I was paying before on SVR, even if it's not the full miser mode of IO.
(I'm less bothered about the price of electricity anyway, because I also have solar.)

I am on IO with a non-supported charger (BG Sync-EV), Have absolutely no problems except that Octopus always try to control the car twice, so I always get 2 sets of messages:
When the charge periods are set it sends 2 messages with the schedule. Then when charging starts it sends one saying charging has started, and a second saying unable to control car.

One thing that I have noticed is that it never reaches maximum charge requested on the Octopus app. I like to charge to about 80% for the majority of times I use the car, but it always stopped 5-10% below that. Car has A|C chargingf limit set to 100%, and I have now changed the Octopus limit to 90% so that it now gets to 80%

If your EVSE is not supported then you do need to have a supported EV to get onto the tariff, and right now Kia is not on the list unfortunately.

It has been in the past and if you got onto the tariff at that time they will not remove you, but others can't join...

My Niro disappeared from devices in Octopus app over summer. I had it disabled while not using it. Today I got an email from Octopus saying I need to connect it "to remain on Intelligent Octopus Go". However, it comes up as not supported in the app. Guess I'm gonna get kicked off.

I have a Project EV charger that could be controlled via Home Assistant or something. Not sure what Octopus don't offer an API/software solution that would work with any chargers that can be automated. Possibly they are concerned with people gaming it to get more cheap electricity but that could be solved by imposing a cap for API users (say max N hours cheap per week).

Same situation as me. The Kia integration kinda worked in the early days, but then became unreliable, so I turned it off. I'll be phoning them tomorrow.

Yes, seems inconsistent. Just to round things off- I emailed and got a non-committal reply :D (mentioned Go as an option but not actually that I'd be kicked off Intelligent)
