Do many people use this card for charging?
I used it 5 times over 2 days recently and Octopus have charged my credit card with an amount that doesn’t seem to agree with what I believe I should have paid. They also don’t seem to be able to provide a breakdown of the charges, so how can anyone check if it’s correct? And just to add to the problem, they have charged my credit card but say that they have no record of my credit card on their systems.
I heard recently that Octopus are utilising AI in their systems. I this an example of AI?
Anyone have similar experiences?

I get an emailed receipt, it goes onto my Octopus account, but then Octopus take it from my credit card instead of reducing the credit on my account 🙃🤷‍♂️
I've also had a charge that never got billed at all.

Electroverse can be tied to a bank card, it's not limited to Octopus Energy customers.

Electroverse FAQ said:
Do I have to be an Octopus Energy customer to use Electroverse?
No, everyone is welcome!
We want charging to be as simple as possible for every EV driver in the UK, whether you are with Octopus Energy for your home energy supply or not.

And if you ever leave Octopus for your home energy, your Electroverse account will continue to work as normal (though we'll ask you to add a payment card if you also cancel your Direct Debit with us).

Just to clarify, I was under the impression that the Electroverse card was linked to my energy account. In fact, it actually says it is in the app under payment methods.
I obviously have an issue with this. Although Octopus can be contacted (eventually), they don’t seem to be very efficient with coming up with data or explanations.

As others have said, if you're not an OE customer you can link it to a card.

I am an OE customer and only used it once when it was in beta, and it didn't bill me 🤷‍♂️ Since then I've used Bonnet on free charges and Elli/PowerPass has been cheaper so not needed to use OE electroverse (much prefered Juice as the name)

I'm not an OE customer, but I registered to use Electroverse. I use the app to activate charging on nearby Ubitricity street lamp charge points. I got the RFID card, but so far haven't used it. The app has a history of charge sessions, showing the typical stuff: location, start, end, duration, kWh consumption price/kWh and a button to download a PDF receipt.
The cost is charged to my credit card in arrears at the end of a week. In my case, maybe everyone, it debits my CC overnight between Sunday/Monday ISTR.
I'd like to try the RFID card, but I've been very sucessful in the last 10 months at generally avoiding rapid pricing and when I have it has probably been a Gridserve or Instavolt.
I can see a history of my charge sessions back to 1st November, which may be when I got it.
I've no complaints with the data presented. (or being debited in arrears in one hit). If only it covered the networks which I am likely to use on the go it would get more use!

@scratchyman have you tried logging in to your Electraverse account via web browser. That should give you good indication whether charging history is missing from your account or just your app is not pulling all the data. If the app is at fault, log out, and log in again. You can try uninstalling.
If history is missing form your web view, email Octopus and ask them for help.

Keep meaning to use mine, or at least use up the £10 free credit. But yeah I assumed it was just linked to my octopus account.
But it only seems to be Morrisons genie points round here so isn't very useful. I've also got loads of instavolt free credit but I'm absolutely miles from an instavolt!

I gave up.
I had problems with the first card taking forever to get the charge going at the local Aldi. A second card was just as bad.
A few charges and not only have they never billed me but it means I've never seen the credit I should have or any additional credit I might have.
I even drove 40 odd miles to charge somewhere further affield but the charge never started so I wasted time and money trying to get it working.

Might have to go back and scrounge another 10 kWh just to break even as I cained it back due to hunger.

The card worked fine for me at my local Osprey 50kW charger. The payment got added to my Intelligent Octopus home energy account that month.

My only criticism was that while the Octopus domestic billing statement showed my home electricity and gas charges in detail, it didn’t have any detail about the EV charges - I had to refer to the app to get a breakdown of when, where, rate etc.

If I wanted to switch to just settling the payment via a credit card my recollection is that I could do so in the app. Obviously the default is by credit card if you don’t actively link the Electroverse card to your Octopus account.

Much depends on what you believe you should have paid !

Don't forget that Electroverse prices for some charging companies differ from the prices displayed on the charger. Also, if you have certain types of Octopus account, there will be a discount on Electroverse prices.

So as the OP of this thread, I have now realised what was happening. The cost anomaly, was due to the way Octopus calculate VAT. There is a difference, however small, between adding the VAT per each charging session, and adding it to the whole billed amount. Call me pedantic?
They still haven’t explained how they have charged my credit card when they say they have no record of it, because clearly they do know what it is.
The only way Octopus can change how I pay for charging from billing my CC to adding it to my energy account, has been for me to cancel the Electroverse card I have, and re-apply for a new one. The reason I want to do this, is due to an upcoming trip to the EU. I don’t want to run the risk of having additional foreign exchange charges added to my CC for charging abroad. I do I actually have a CC which doesn’t add foreign exchange fees, but who knows what the banks might change in the current climate.

What does it say in your Electroverse app -> Little person tab (there's the map tab, history tab and person tab) -> Payment methods?

I've got £10 bonus for having energy account, then £35 worth of credit added after first charge, probably referring people, now £42 in credit. So I have no way of telling how I'd get charged. Also got Europe EV hire planned in summer.

In my payment methods, it shows Octopus icon and Direct debit in the graphics part, account number is the bank account I use with Octopus energy. Does this mean it's tied to my energy account?

beware, this whole thing is very 'beta' and a nightmare! I signed in using my Octopus Energy login, so the default i woul dbe to bill any charging sessions to my Home Energy account.. as I want my comany to pay I added my company debit card - BIG MISTAKE... I now do not get the 8% discounts I should via partnered charging networks.. for that discount to apply you have to pay via your energy account.. so I though I would change the payment method to my energy account, get the discounts, and then just claim the charging sessions via expenses monthly.. ha ha.. because the debit card is in the account, you can't pay via your energy account, and you can;t remove the debit card!!!!!!! So I am f@cked

An email to them to remove the card would probably sort it.
I have it set to pay via my energy account. That does happen, but instead of it ging onto my monthly bill, they put it straight through on my amex card without me doing anything. Then when I get my monthly energy bill, I have to manually pay via my card.
Doesn't bother me, but 🙃

I've used my electroverse card for the first time yesterday, and first time public charging since having car last August. Only charged a few percent to see if it would work. All ok . Payment charged to credit card but now see I've got option of setting the debit card that my direct debit for home energy bill comes from.
At least I now know the card work, car works with fast charging ready for when/if I need to do a long journey over 260 miles.
