Greg has said numerous times that all regions will be cheaper than the current prices as the current prices are kind of 'hedged' to ensure they get enough to cover the generation. So London will be more expensive than other areas, but that might just convince them to get their own renewables. I dont think the delta will ever be huge as that would justify some chunky HVDC links to where it is expensive and that would then equalise it somewhat.
The biggest problem with regional pricing is that the regions created by generation and transmission bottlenecks do not line up with the retail regions. Of course it is solvable, but not a simple application of using the current retail regions.

Octopus continues to pay these credits between 8 and 9 days after the event. Much quicker than the 14 days advised.
Just had ÂŁ1.97 from the 5th 1-hour free electricity slot from the 10-Sep (credit balance updated today, credit payment date of yesterday).

I did well 🤣🤣 7 hours max charging car got 5p. Think in my case I will give up on IOG. Not part of my charging plan so full price

12p for me, can't see how it was calculated and still no email explaining the savings for any of the days.

It was negative rates so I didn't expect much but would be good to see how it was worked out.

ÂŁ2.85 for me

ÂŁ2.56 which is the most I have managed. I want to see the bill when it comes as Intelignet had scheduled the van to charge then so there may be a real proffit!

Unless they use some other measure you don't need to wait for the bill you can either divide the 285 pence (in my case) by 22.28 (that's my daytime rate in Yorkshire, yours may differ depending where you are) and I used 12.79kWh and that more or less tallies with the Octopus dashboard for 10 September it says I used 12.772kWh in that hour.

I know how much I used and the rate they have refunded me at. What I don't know is the rate the will bill me at. I have not had an IOG bill yet as only on it for a while but I presure there will be a breakdown as to which slots are billed at which rate. I have been refunded at the full day rate but as it was an IOG slot I would expect to be billed at the cheap rate. So basically they are messing up to my advantage.

I can see where you are coming from.
On the last free 1-hour slot I forgot to disable the Smart Charging in the Octopus App before connecting the car, and it allocated a slot in the 13:00-14:00 plus a slot from just after midnight.
Because of that, I disconnected the car and disabled Smart Charging, then reconnected the car to the charger.
In this way, I am expecting that it will be at the normal day rate for the 1-hour rather than at the IOG off-peak rate because of the IOG slot allocation.
Until that comes through as a credit it won't be clear which price has been used, but for myself, I am hoping it will be the day rate because I canceled the IOG slot.

The effective price should be zero whichever rate they credit you at, shouldn't it?

The 1 hour is a delta to what you normally use over a 10-day (or 4 weekends) average, so not necessarily. So you get the 'free' electricity based on that delta.
But how much they credit you will be whatever that kWh delta is at whatever rate Octopus defines for your tariff.

For me, if they do this at the day rate that is 24.4503p/kWh presently, whereas if they consider it was an IOG slot then that would be 7p/kWh.
If I have say a delta of 10kWh it could be either ÂŁ2.45 or ÂŁ0.70 so quite a marked difference.

Which would you prefer?
Option A: being billed ÂŁ2.45 with a ÂŁ2.45 rebate, or
Option B: being beilled ÂŁ0.70 with a ÂŁ0.70 rebate?

I can see it makes no odds, but if I had a preference it would be option A.

Clarity from Octopus would be helpful to know that if an IOG slot is allocated to align with the 1-hour free electricity slot then the IOG rate trumps the normal rate, as it would normally do. Whilst it would logically be that way, that has not been made clear by Octopus in the FAQ.

I don't really care one way or the other, by the way. I would just prefer to know how it works for this scenario, that's all.

I did get this extra advantage on the first one back in August. I left the car on the Ohme defaulting to a solar +0% while out. When this is actively charging, the max charge button is lost, so I had to up the scheduled percentage to get the button back. I was billed at 7p per kWh, but rebated based on 24.45p.

Swings and roundabouts as in that same billing month, there was a session when Ohme thought I used 1.2million kWh but the bill was not at 7p for the charging outside the off peak.

I want to see the bill when it comes as Intelignet had scheduled the van to charge then so there may be a real proffit!
I had an ingesting similar experience. Smart charging was disabled (via HomeAssistant automations) but I got a notification via HA to say it was an IO slot. So will need to see if they charged at 7p and repay at 23p or what. They didn't create a schedule but API said it was a IO slot 🤷‍♂️

Credit from the final 1-hour free electricity session has now hit my account. ÂŁ1.63 credit added today with a transaction date of yesterday.

I wasn't able to leverage the last session much outside some EV charging.

But overall, across the 6 1-hour free electricity sessions I received a credit total of ÂŁ11.92

I don't expect to see any more Free Electricity Sessions this year, as with the colder weather these will be replaced with the Saving Sessions.

Don't hold up much hope for Saving Sessions this year looking at the ESO changes to it. Those with batteries that can be controlled via 3rd parties will do best, but to me that is moving away from the point of having Saving Sessions as its meant to be community lead. Else just have the aggregators set up as proper balancing mechanism contributors. Also having the likes of Axel and Octopus control the batteries direct, there will be more competition and the pay-outs will be lower. I can see people opting out if that's the case as you need a decent reward for cycling the battery. I hope I'm wrong but it seems that's the way it going as its being put in a standard merit order option now I believe, lumped in with all other options.

Strange, but Octopus have a free electricity slot from 13:00 to 14:00 tomorrow, Sunday 20th of October.
I just received an email from Pete @ Octopus.

I guess that's also why Octopus has Sunday into Monday as the best night this week to plug in to charge overnight - as the best Greener Day.

There's a free hour tomorrow but having been stitched up last time when I used a load of power but they rewarded me a few pence stating it was an average as they had no meter readings (they bloody did) I'm thinking I'll just schedule a charge which encompases the hour so I'll be paying the 7p rate, if they reimburse me 50p or more great but if they muck about again I won't have used loads of power at the higher rate.

Looks to be largely overcast tomorrow so no weighing up the odds of losing export income but I'm still owed from previously not exporting so might dump the entire battery in the evening to catch up to where I'd have been if not enticed by their kind offer (which they reneged on). Well almost all of it.

1-2 as usual.

I have the email, but I can't see the session announced on their website... anyone else?
