Ohme API Issues

Is anyone else having a problem connecting the Ohme app to their car API?

Mine was working fine and then some point last week the Ohme app stopped recognising the details to sign into Kia Connect (I have the Niro EV3). It keeps saying "The sign in couldn't be completed, please check your credentials and try again". I've raised a ticket with Ohme last week but not getting much in the way of updates from them.

This isn't an issue with Kia though because I've seen people commenting on Twitter with the same problem that have Mini's/BMWs.

It has been working fine for the two months that I've the car and stopped last week, and it seems to have also stopped for others then too.

Anyone else have this issue?

That's a similar situation to ours. Charged fine on June 25/26th overnight then noticed on Friday that the car was 'Offline'.

I've had that before and just went through the process of re-connecting the API which worked last time. This time I was faced with the "credentials" message and no success since. I've also switched off and on at the fuse box, deleted and re-installed the app, deleted and re-installed the Kia Connect app but that all didn't work either!

I'm also having the same issues connecting to my BMW i3 via the Ohme App. First noticed an issue on Friday (30th June) when I went to charge the car overnight. I emailed Ohme and they sent the following:-

'We have recently become aware that there is an issue affecting BMW API functionalities. Our Product team is currently investigating this issue and will look to resolve this as soon as possible.
As an Ohme Labs feature, communication directly through your vehicle (via API) is still in development. As a result, it may not work as intended from time to time'. For the moment you would need to adjust your charge schedule slightly to 'add' a certain amount of charge rather than meeting a 'target'.

They said they would let me know once it's working again although it looks like it's not just an issue with BMW's. I can log in to the BMW App just fine just not via the Ohme App. I've just tried again now and it's still not working. Time will tell!

That's essentially the same message I got but with the BMW swapped for Kia. What was annoying was that they ignored one of my other questions/issues and just copied and pasted that generic answer!

Anyway someone over on Twitter has been able to log back onto the BMW API through the Ohme app so yours might be working again now (no luck with my Kia one so far).

"Lost" mine sometime in last few days, here's response to ticket from Ohme. In the meantime, just using a schedule to charge during the fixed IO period:

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for your message.

We have recently become aware that there is an issue affecting Kia API functionalities. Our Product team is currently investigating this issue and will look to resolve this as soon as possible.

For the moment you would need to adjust your charge schedule slightly to 'add' a certain amount of charge rather than meeting a 'target'. There is more information about how to charge without API support in our support article below:

I'm doing the same, it's not the end of the world, just makes the smart charger slightly less smart so is an inconvenience more than anything.

Just a waiting game for them to sort the Kia issues I guess! It's annoying because it was working great until last week.

Mine seems to be working again on my BMW i3s! I haven't done an actual charge but I can now log in via the Ohme App and it shows the battery percentage etc. Still haven't had a confirmation email from Ohme so maybe they're still working on it. I hope everyone else has it sorted soon and we don't any more reoccurrences. I wonder what's caused it, must be something common to all the manufacturers affected i.e. the Ohme App maybe!

Is anyone else having a problem connecting the Ohme app to their car API?
I currently have the same issue.

When I connect to the car, I get the approval notification as normal. After this, I get a notification saying that the app failed to connect to my car and that it was assuming a charge of 0%.

This is OK, and it still charged overnight. Unfortunately, it seems that when the car forcibly disconnected (when it got to 100%, but Ohme thinks it's at 40 or something), the app repeatedly tried to connect to the API. By the time I got up at 6am, the Kia app was helpfully telling me that I'd used up all of my connections to the car for today.

This meant that I was unable to use the app for anything at all until the next day, meaning I wouldn't get warnings for leaving the car unlocked, or whatever.

I understand that this API stuff in the Ohme is a labs feature and I'm fully OK with that. The problem here lies with Kia's shocking API implementation. To allow a 'rogue' app to lock out the whole account by misusing the API is a basic schoolboy error and I worry about how lax the rest of the API, and indeed access to my account may be.

I have 2921 nissan leaf exactly the same as yourself, battery is at 50 I then add 40 but for some reason always takes me to 100,I've emailed ohme and not heard back over 7 days now but this started to happen about same time as yourself, it looks like it's most makes ,I get same generic email as you do about assuming battery is at zero

Mine worked fine when I plugged in earlier.

When you go to 'Manage my Vehicle' in the Ohme app does it show the % charge of your car?

The last time I was having trouble connecting to the car and it wasn't registering on the app, I flipped the switch on the fuse box, waited 5 mins and switched it back on. Seemed to solve it. I had this a couple of times and seemed to be when I hadn't charged for a while (almost like the charger powers down).

Thanks. It was giving me the same message as the other week, saying that it had failed to communicate with the car and so it was assuming that the battery was empty.

I found that changing my car in the app to be one that wasn't listed and then changing it back to Kia and entering my login details again seems to have fixed it up 🙂. That didn't work the last time as it was a problem with the API connection, so I assume it was just a brief blip this time.

Hi, yes it was resolved after a few days and has been working ok since. I've had it a couple of times where the Ohme App doesn't register the Car's battery percentage but as I generally charge to 100% once a week it isn't really an issue. I can resolve this by going into the Ohme App, Manage My EV, Switch Car, and putting my details in again and its fine. The only other I've had was with the incoming supply being over voltage so the car wouldn't charge. Both issues now sorted and neither caused directly by the Ohme Home Pro.
