Ohme home pro

I'm looking to get an Ohme home pro as it's compatible with both OVO and IO. Or maybe the Indra smart Pro as I believe that will be compatible with both in the new year.

As only Ohme is confirmed with both, I'm leaning towards this. However what's putting me off Ohme is it does not look very discreet when not in use due to the cables. I wish the cable had a wrap around design.

Any thoughts on this? Am I overthinking it?

Is that the 5m cable? I opted for the 8m cable, so that I can charge a (hypothetical) second car without moving the first one. It doesn't look as neat as yours, I think because the extra cable length is really too much for the hook. But it's on the side of my house behind a gate so I don't really care about it looking nice.

What does concern me is that the plastic hook feels weak and I imagine will snap at some point, especially being subject to cold weather and direct sunlight. The guy who installed it said they used to come with a metal hook, but they changed to plastic at some point.

That's with the old metal cable hook, but I didn't like the plug sticking out horizontally because of the amount of space it took so I modified it so that the holster faced down. The only problem I've had with my modification is that water seems to have got into the clip that holds the plug into the holster and it no longer works, but it doesn't matter because there's enough friction to hold the plug in anyway. Plenty of 3rd party hooks/holsters available to buy if the newer plastic one looks too flimsy.

5m cable, but that's more than enough for my particular situation. Plastic hook will last for me as I don't unhook/move the cable off . I'm sure eventually the plastic would become brittle but that should last a few years. at least then replacement won't cost the earth. No big deal.
I like that the plug clips into to the hook so not dangling in the dirt/water etc

Ohme Home Pro with 8m cable - which we need if our car is parked on the drive In front of the garage. When charging in the dark, I lay it so it isn‘t a trip hazard, which takes more length.

I agree that the bracket is flimsy: ours is fine at the moment but if it needed replacement I’d use something like the water hose bracket you can see next to it.

Subjectively, the majority of issues people have with tariffs like IO seem to stem from not using the Ohme as the single, master control point. Either they try and set stuff from two different places such as car+Ohme (so things get confused) or they use the Octopus app as the master control point, instead of the Ohme.

If the charge point is outdoors and you don’t like it being exposed/visible, you could just get a slatted cover for it and the cables - sort of thing you see in garden centres for water hoses.

This is the [Ohme] ‘My Charger’ screen that Ian.taylor is referring to (apologies for the big photo’, but the forum software won’t let me adjust the image size when I’m using an iPad). As you can see, it has a ‘Sleep when inactive’ slider to enable/disable the front lights.

No, mine has none of the three settings options you have there, never has done. I have the up to date app according to Google Play. Maybe the firmware is out of date.

I have an Ohme Home fitted at the start of 2021. I don't have those options in the (Android) app, although I sometimes see them briefly flash up and then vanish again. Ohme don't seem to make any distinction between old and new Ohme Home chargers on their website, but I suspect there are several different hardware versions out in the wild with different capabilities.

My app is android 1.29.2 like billthebutcher but the app doesn't tell me the firmware version (where it should do, it just says "--"). I went out to look on the front of the charger and it says the firmware is 1.03. If that compares with 1.32 as per msej449's post then it's presumably well out of date. I might drop Ohme an email... although it's otherwise working fine so not sure I want to rock the boat!

Done, doesn't help.
In early 2022 my charger had problems only charging the car at 16A when on a schedule and Ohme solved it by sending a remote update to the charger. I wonder if this somehow disabled further automatic updates and it has missed them since

Edit, back to the topic of the OP, mine looks like this. I think it looks ok when the cable is neatly coiled, which isn't too difficult.
But if you just hook it over randomly it looks a mess. Excuse the drainpipe.
