Why don't you want to be able to preset you driving preferences so you don't have to do it every time you drive?

Happy with the system on my MG ZS (UK)*.

Defaults to "normal" drive mode (rather than Eco or Sport) and regen level 3 (of 3).

Which I don't feel any need to change.

Also, unlike our KIA, the auto-handbrake and lane assist gubbins stays on/off permanently when set.

The KIA defaults to auto-handbrake OFF and lane departure warning ON every fking time I start the car.

* MG4 or Aussie flavour software may vary of course.

Sadly, MG only seems to respond to dealers, and even then very slowly. If they do take notice, they'll probably just see it as something that could adversely affect their NCAP rating and that seems to be all they care about.

 

Whilst NCAP is the benchmark, it is correct that they strive to meet it as best they can
Whether NCAP has led to inconvenient consequences is a different discussion.

I do not think it fair on the one hand for people to say “ Chinese products are all gash” and then criticise them when they aspire to and meet the safety standards set by the standard set in the market

Agree that some of the non-safety items should be looked at

Car software seems to be on the level of your average ZX Spectrum app for usability. Basic features like "save my preferences" are about 15 years away.

 

Your probably correct, but I hope your wrong.
I do believe though that while this maynot achieve my aim, doing nothing certainly won't speed it along.
If we can get enough signatures, and MG is made aware of it, then the PR machine will likely respond, either with a reason why they can't do it, or they will look at getting is sorted. Every car manufactures goal is to sell more cars to gain more marketshare.
