Can anyone give me a definitive answer on how the hell to make this stupid bit of software work reliably - it's possibly the worst piece of software I've ever come across !!

To update your SD card and buy apps, maps etc for Rlink you need to register your car with Rlink store where you download Rlink toolbox on your PC.

This is the tool you use when you remove your SD card from the car** put it in your PC to update apps and install any apps purchased. https://gb.rlinkstore.com/Home

**Be sure to remove the card from the car safely by touching the + sign at the bottom RH corner of the touch screen when on the home screen (small map).

Also use safe removal from your PC.

I've never found it not to work, its just a bit basic as to what it does.... backups your card and copies files from the website.

I wrote this email to rlink support : if anyone can suggest anything while I await their reply it might help !!

Hi, we picked up our zoe 2 weeks ago, which came with an sd-card marked full europe. The maps were out of date, so I created our r-link store account and purchased the Western Europe maps at ÂŁ25. These would not go onto the card initially, and I had to untick the original map, presumably to make space - and eventually the new map went on and worked ok. (I noticed that there are many voices and speed cams / pois that are greyed out and impossible to delete).

I have done the GPS april2019 update on USB seperately.

Yesterday, r-link store told me there were updates available for the car, so I safely ejected the card from the car, and inserted it into the PC - unfortunately, it said the card was corrupt, but it could do a restore - which I allowed it to do.

However, what has happened is that the new map has been deleted, and r-link store wants to reinstall it, but now there isn't enough space - its as if the restore put the original map back on in some way that only used space up, but did not actually allow the old map to work again.

Bottom line is that now I have no maps available, and not enough space to re-install the new one I've paid for.

Please help !!!!!!!

So it sounds like you have an older Zoe, or at least one with a 4gb card. The EU maps doesn't fit onto this card, only the UK one fits. So it will say there isn't enough space.

I'm not sure if the map has ever decreased in size, worth checking, you might be able to get away with it if you uninstall the ridiculous fish tank "app" and all the other crap apps available (they just slow down rlink anyway).

If it turns out you do have a 4gb card your only option is to buy a bigger card from Renault. Or if you can follow instructions, and are reasonably technically competent you can follow my card cloning process (or @yoh-there simplified version).
