So, through straightforward pilot error, I clipped the passenger side door mirror on my 22MY Soul recently. Inferno red with black roof and mirrors.
The mirror glass cracked in multiple places, but held together. The main mirror body shows no signs of damage and the power fold. electric adjustment and blind spot monitoring all work.
The car was scheduled for it's 20K/2 year service, at a local Kia dealer this week, so I asked them to look at it and let me know about a replacement.
They quoted about £635. They claimed this was based on the fact that the mechanism behind the mirror glass was damaged, hence simply replacing the glass was not possible and this simple fact necessitated an entire new unit. Not only that, but they don't come in black/ready painted? The new unit has to be acquired from Kia parts UK, then painted and only then can it be fitted to the car. Wow, bonkers.
I cannot help thinking there must be a more economical way to get this done. Has anyone gone through a similar experience and willing to share how to do this for a more sensible/acceptable cost?
BTW, what a great little car it is - the perfect intro to driving a BEV.
