Replacement RCBO

I had my meter replaced with a SMETS2 "smart" meter yesterday, and when the electrician tried switching everything back on, the RCBO in the mini Consumer Unit for the PodPoint wouldn't latch "on" (not even once totally removed from the system - it wasn't tripping just faulty). It's a 32A single phase EVSE, so it was using a 40A RCBO for its supply. The only replacement I was able to get from my local electrical supplier was a 63A Schneider RCCB - to allow me to charge my car last night.

What's the view from those in the know on whether I'm OK to carry on with this in place or whether I should replace it (presumably with a 40A equivalent?) - and if so with what degree of urgency?

Cheers!

EDIT: didn't buy the RCCB from ToolStation - they were just convenient to link to the details for the unit.

I wouldn’t be at all happy with that. Firstly, it is an RCCB so it has no over current protection. If that’s the only device between your incoming supply and your charging outlet then you have a risk of fire in the event of a fault.

Secondly, that’s a type AC RCCD so you have no protection from even a low level DC residual current fault. Worse is that in the event of such a fault, you may “blind” the protection provided for other parts of your installation so the shock risk spreads from just the car to the whole house.

I agree about the lack of over-current protection, you need to rectify that ASAP. Depending on the age of your PodPoint it may have type B DC protection built in meaning that a type AC RCD to protect the rest of the circuit is sufficient. What age/model is it?

installed August 2017, 32A single phase PodPoint Solo.

What "type"/curve RCBO should I be looking for - and does anyone have any recommendations for a suitable replacement? I can disconnect the supply from the Henley block (again) to fit a replacement.

Thanks both for the replies above, much appreciated.

PS - the PodPoint is the only thing connected to its own mini CU, with the single RCBO / RCCB being the only thing fitted to that mini CU.
