So now reached 20,000 fantastic miles on my 3P. Rotated them at 10k and I think they’ll be illegal in a few weeks or so. Started looking for alternatives so any advice welcomed on replacements and comments on grip, wear rate, noise levels and price appreciated. Cheers.

Going through this too, about 21,000 on mine, still think they might be ok for another 1 thousand though, 2 at a push.

Still kind of thinking of just paying the premium to let Tesla service do this for me, still a little weary to use the garages around me, I don't think they're used to jacking up electric vehicles.

Yes, I've seen a few comment about tyre availability been limited, whether its all sizes or just some I couldn't say, but I wouldn't wait until you're on the edge as its not a drive up and get replaced type thing.

Some tyre places won't fit anything other than T0 (Tesla certified) tyres, In coming up to 6 years I've never felt the need for a puck, the underside is way stronger than the underside of the average ICE and how many people complain about a tyre place piercing the floor of their ICE? (Care is still needed but they're not exactly delicate). Tesla are about 50% more expensive for the same tyre as buying online

As for alternatives, tyrereviews website is an interesting read but you need to check the sizes. I think they now ship with Pirellis and they're not thought to be as good as the Michelins, but ask 3 nerds for their favourite tyre and you'll get 3 answers.

So I thought I'd contact Tesla to get an estimate on how much it would be for 4 18inch Michelin PS4 for my SR+.

The total including labour would be £1070.

Price may seem eye-watering but considering the price of each tyre seems to be close to £200 everywhere is it that terrible?

It's not great though is it, I probably won't do that.

I'm actually thinking the rear ones are so much more worn down than the front that I'll do just the rear and the front ones may well last another 5-10 thousand.

Anyone else with the SR+ found this?

I just took a look at my tyres a couple of days ago and I'm down to the wear bars on the rears at 10,300 miles on an SR+. I have been enjoying the car when I can so yes my own fault.... Was going to go with Primacy 4s from Costco but they're now showing as out of stock. The guy at Costco said the lockdown in France was having an effect on the supply of Michelin tyres.

Got over 21,500 on mine and I was enjoying the car too....

Shame I didn't see this sooner, I've just sold a set of 4 brand new PS4 Acoustic off a brand new model3 LR for £350 in the classifieds section. Given the price on Blackcircles above someone might have paid more ;) Hey Ho.

(They were swapped for crossclimate+ BTW)

I wonder if it is partly due to the fact I like to keep my tyre pressure above 42psi.

I do this for efficiency, but maybe it has some impact on prolonging the lifespan of the tyres.

I aim for them to be around 45psi when warmed up from driving so no lower than about 41 when cold.

Maybe it's a slightly harder ride but on 18 inchers it's probably still softer than the performance and I've never felt uncomfortable.

I got quoted £466 plus VAT (nigh on £560 including) for both rear tyres this week whilst in at Tesla for a warranty job. There’s 3mm left on each so gonna check out Costco and a couple of local tyre places.

18” Aeros are my wheels....

I got one replaced last year cos a bolt went though after having car for only 3 weeks - that was 180 fitted (same as the others that were on there).

Actually, extremely annoying they don't seem to have my SR+ 18inch size. They have everything but it seems.

Please let me know if you find it but I can't see it. Costco

They do have the right size for the Michelin PRIMACY 4, but I don't know anything about them, are they any good?

I had my tires done in costco for an e-golf and saw them hooning around the car park after fitting. Not sure if this is normal practice to check the tyres are okay (unlikely) or if they wanted to try out one of these new fangled electric cars. With tesla torque, I'd be inclined to enable valet mode!

Anyone who replace their PS 4's with Primacy 4s, please post your findings in terms of difference in noise, dry/wet handling, general confort, fuel, etc. Rather than the ratings and reviews out there, would be good to get first hand feedback from Model 3 owners.

Well I replaced my rear tyres and I would tell you about my experience with how the Primacy 4s compared to the Pilot Sport 4s but when I left the garage I saw that they had fitted the slightly more expensive Pilot Sport 4s anyway!

I'm not complaining, I mostly picked the Primacy 4s because they were a little bit cheaper but also because I think they have a slightly better treadwear rating. However the Pilot Sport 4s are supposedly slightly more premium, so I'll take the free upgrade.

They have the e-primacy line now round about the same price as Primacy 4s, would be good to know how good they are.

Old thread I know but thought my recent experience would help anyone with a similar question.

I ended up with Primacy 4 on the rear instead of the Tesla Only (TO) tyres that were on there already due to an oversight on my part. No discernable difference in noise and so far the drive feels fine.

Worth pointing out that the Primacy4 and E Primacy are quiter than the stock tyres by 1db! Also, some difference in efficiency and wet grip. Some links with the stats

I'd be interested to hear what kind of life the duel motor owners get vs the single motor standard range owners.

For example, I've done just over 35,000 miles and my two front tyres are still the originals and still well within the legal limit.

The rears however may need replacing again possibly before or at the same time as the front ones despite having been replaced around 15,000 miles ago.

(also on a side note one of my rear ones got a bad puncture, replaced it for a primacy 4, so I have an odd one but when I replace the other 3 I'll probably go with primacy 4's again.)
