So now reached 20,000 fantastic miles on my 3P. Rotated them at 10k and I think they’ll be illegal in a few weeks or so. Started looking for alternatives so any advice welcomed on replacements and comments on grip, wear rate, noise levels and price appreciated. Cheers.

Everyone still running on PS4s ?

Just had the car slip sideways (typical Scottish weather, not dry but not raining either) while accelarating with around 5mm even thread depth on original PS4s. Surely there should be better tyres out there.

I've only driven 13k miles ( Long Range, 18 inch aero wheels) and my two back tyres are already worn down to 3mm. Front tyres are fine though with 5mm. Admittedly this is my fault as I never rotated when I should have. So I've booked in an appointment to replace my rear tyres with new all season tyres. Not sure which ones they will replace them with though, I suspect it'll be the same ones.

Would people actually recommend replacing them at 3mm or should I just rotate them and wear them down to the legal limit of 1.6mm?

I've been getting uniform wear on all four wheels but have to admit, the tyres do get rotated as part of winter wheel swap.

Would not recommend running down lower than 3mm let alone 1.6mm. In fact garages recommend more tyre depth in rear wheels to avoid sideways slip. Recently on a typical Scottish wet road, my car lost control in rear wheels when I stepped on the pedal. Just not worth it at or below 3mm is my opinion.

Anyone else changed tyres recently ? Willing to sacrifice steering accuracy for a bit more comfort.
Here are the shortlists, current favourite is HK Ventus Prime:

Hankook Ventus Prime 4
Hankook Ion Evo
Michelin Primacy 4
Michelin Pilot Sport 4 T0

Thoughts welcome.
