Sit in the car while charging?

Sounds like an odd question but the manual says charging will only start when the car is locked.

Is that true? Do you really have to stand outside when you're using a rapid charger on a lonely industrial estate with no coffee bar for miles around?

What reason would there be to stop the car charging if you were in it or the doors were unlocked?
In a previous vehicle I have used pre cooling while charging before driving off and I sat in the vehicle enjoying the cool interior checking the charge, listening to the stereo while outside was baking hot.

Daft question, but can you lock the doors internally to fool the car when it is charging, so then you could run the heating ??.
But, locking the doors would activate the alarm system surly - can that be dis-armed as a work around ???.
You need to be able run the heating while charging in the winter some how !!!!.

I did a very quick charge test when at the dealers the other week. I was connected to their post and it seemed to charge with the car unlocked as I had left the drivers door open so I could see what was displayed on the dash.

I was trying to find out what information they gave to the driver and whether there was any info about power transfer but it unfortunately didn't. As soon as I powered up the car up the charging stopped but I can't recall if I had my foot on the brake at the time so whether it went in to ACC or ON I can't be sure.

What would happen if the car was fully locked first and charging then unlocked I didn't test.
