Where is the Zappi v3?

Very close to getting my first EV, deciding between Hypervolt and Zappi for charger.
The Hypervolt looks so much smarter than the Zappi v2 and is £200 cheaper, though there doesn't seem to be much between them in terms of quality and functionality. I'm conscious that this is kit that will adorn the front of my house for years to come so annoyingly the aesthetics are a factor, otherwise I'd have a Zappi v2 in a heartbeat.
My question is, does anyone know if/when the next Zappi is due?

In my experience, just after you purchased the previous version. Happened to me with version 1, but to be honest it is still working fine and doing everything I need.

The latest version 2.1 has only recently been released so may be a wait for version 3. But then of cause work will start on version 4. You also need to be sure you are getting the latest iteration; the version 1 installed for us turned out to be the oldest/original version rather than the one being manufactured at the time. The installer obviously bought from a wholesaler who had old stock.

Whichever EVSE you buy will always have the same issue. Not only do manufacturers look to “continually improve” but current component supply issue means that even the same model and version may use different components.

The Zappi 1, 2, and 2.1 look identical to each other - why would expect v3 to look any different? I'm happy with my Zappi 2.0, but I think I'd go for a Hypervolt if I was buying now since it does everything the Zappi does and is much better looking.

Almost correct, but the Zappi v1 looks different. I have no experience of the Hypervolt, but my Zappi v1 is out of sight and integrates with my Eddi so appearance is not the primary issue. I would like a Zappi 2.1 but could not justify the cost as the oldest version of the Zappi still does everything I need, and more that I have never used. The claimed inbuilt PEN fault protection of the version 2 would have been useful at the time. Does the Hypervolt have this to the same standard as the Zappi?

I went for the Hypervolt because it looks better, came with the option of a longer cable and does everything the Zappi does. At the end of the day it connects the car to a power supply. I didn't see what benefit the Zappi price differential brought.
Also thought about the Wallbox Pulsar but I could forsee cable storage being a mess and I don't think it has an option for a cable longer than 5m.

Great point Bubba82, did you know our chargers also work offline via Bluetooth and don't rely on the internet? The entire app but one feature works on Bluetooth. the only feature that requires an internet connection is the charge logs, as this data is stored in the cloud.

Not a lot of information about that, just a trademark and some speculation. I'm intending to buy a home storage battery next year, but so far I'm still at the "bewildered" stage of research. I'm not certain of the capacity I need (probably 10kwh?), or whether to get a hybrid or AC invertor, or whether to replace my existing solar invertor or fit another beside it. A turnkey solution guaranteed to work well with my Zappi would be very attractive... But I'll probably end up buying some cheap stuff off alibaba and bodging it together. Batteries are expensive.

If I'm not mistaken, Easee units use a 4G Sim as far as I am aware. Bluetooth is free forever and everything is local to the charger so even in the rare event of a server going down, you'll still be able to use the charger and app.

Furthermore, it means all the data is local and we don't gather and keep your personal data, so I may be biased too but I think you've made the right decision 😁.

Aesthetics like beauty is largley in the eye of the beholder. My personal preference is the Zappi but more importantly its track record (first British solar compatible smart charger launched), its reliability and supplier support. If it's currently at a price advantage that's another plus. (no affiliation to myenergi other that as a very satisfied owner).
