Zoe Warranty

I found the attached dated Aug 2017 which details the Zoe warranty. I was sure the Zoe 40 "battery included" (i) model had a longer one on the battery, but can find any details.

I am looking for a statement or ideally document on Renault web site, not a link to a SpeakEV claim by a Zoe owner ;)

Incidentally, until a recent post on here I wasn't aware of the 5 year drive train warranty.

With the risk of being accused of stirring the pot.........

@Kentish claims his 2013 has a 4 years warranty on the drive-train (including the charger) in crystal clear documentation, but has failed so far to deliver said documentation after several requests to back it up.

Buying a Zoe

I still would be interested if he's right because if he is, we might be giving people false advice when they have a problem in the drive-train.

Well thank goodness I didn't read this before I had my punctures last year. EVassist came and collected me and took me to a tyre repair shop. When they couldn't provide the right tyres they brought us all the way from Birmingham back to Stoke, to my local dealer, and then dropped us at home for absolutely nothing, free, nada, nichts. Thank you Renault(y)(y)(y).

I've posted on this before in another discussion but it's worth repeating:

"The latest Zoe brochure (https://www.cdn.renault.com/content.../content/dam/Renault/UK/brand-and-editorial/Brochures/Vehicles/zoe-brochure.pdf) gives the new warranty (guarantee) on page 31. I had confirmation of this by email from Renault before ordering. The warranty document you link to is, I'm told, out of date. They should replace it ..."

I was referring to the warranty document that Neilew linked to and it is still out of date with regard to the battery for the i, but I'll hold them to the 5 years on the drivetrain. It would be helpful if anyone finds a later version.

This is the only written statement I could find on this and I insisted on written confirmation from Renault before placing my order. For completeness, here's the email from Renault (redundant text removed):

"I can confirm that the warranty on the battery life for the ZOEi is for 8 years/100,000 miles. This has been updated with the release of the ZOEi this year.

For the non-"i", I am probably stating the blatantly obvious when I say the document linked to and attached above is dated august 2017 and marked version 4. I checked the Renault website and it's the only document for the ZOE linked to, no mention of previous versions (which must exist I assume!)

I also checked my country's entry point to that formal documentation. There are two versions, one is for cars delivered before the first of October 2016. Long story short: 5 years drive-train, 4 years "the rest". The document is roughly the same as the UK version.

After said date: NO special mention of drive train components except the battery and 2 years. Battery is irrelevant for lease, and for the "i" it's 66% SOH / 8 years or 160.000 km (100.000 mi).

This is of course totally irrelevant to the UK, however, one can try to read the tea leaves on where they are heading. The outcome of that reading is very dependent on where you're coming from:
  • Renault is now so confident in ZOE and it's public acceptance that it's applying the standard warranty clauses as for their other cars. If I am not mistaken the legal minimum is 4 years in the UK, so the 2 may sound exceptionally short, but here 2 is the standard legal minimum and it applies to most cars from most OEMs.
  • Renault is now so fed up with the warranty claims of the ZOE drivers, it's limiting the warranty period
Take you pick :D

This is truly a must have for anyone buying a used zoe. If for example though someone didn't take the extended warenty then sold the car to another party, would that mean the new owner wouldn't be able to benefit from taking the extended warranty?

Looks like as long as car has the existing original warranty still in date you can purchase this.

If you have purchased the new extended warranty then it can be transferred to the new owner free of charge (as long as it's a private sale ) which is a great selling point.

I raised this with Renault a few months ago. Heres the response I posted to RZOC.

Ok so finally got some feedback from the dealer where I'm buying my car from and also from Renault customer services.

Firstly the dealership came back and stated the warranty was 8 years @ 100,000 miles. I haven't informed them of the mismatch in the t&cs yet but good to hear.

Secondly after speaking with Renault customer services I was also told the warranty is 8 years @ 100,000 miles and a SOH of 66% not 70%. This was apparently confirmed by management in the UK. This covers the battery only and cannot be extended and this is correct.

I've asked why the discrepancy of 3 years and 40,000 miles between the T&C document hosted on the Renault site for ZE products and the July brochure. The answer I was given is that the T&C document has not yet been 'finalised' for ZE products and this is currently in the works with no date when it will be completed.

I also asked for confirmation what the 4+ warranty on the 'base vehicle' covers and was told it covers everything apart from the traction battery and can be extended year by year.

I have asked for email confirmation regarding the traction battery warranty which the response is listed below:

---
Dear *,

It was great speaking to you over the phone regarding the battery guarantee of the ZOEi.

Following on from our conversation I can confirm the information stated in the brochure is correct and that the terms and conditions are currently being updated to reflect this. This means the battery guarantee is 8 years / 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, this includes the battery performance guarantee to at least 66% of its original capacity.

I want to ensure you are completely satisfied with my response, so if you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to reply to this e-mail or call me on the number provided below. Our opening hours are 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday (excluding UK Bank Holidays) and from 10am on Wednesdays.

Kind Regards,
Amy Walker
---

so there you go

TL:DR
-ZE warranty T&C on the UK site are wrong
-July brochure info for UK is correct
-Renault are updating documents
-'i' version traction battery warranty is 8 years @ 100,000 miles 66% SOH

It is a bit odd that a document specifically for ZE products dated August 2017 is wrong. Clearly it provides a legal, written baseline for any warranty claims, with the proviso that battery included models now have a longer warranty than stated.

If we get a Zoe next year, we are likely to go battery rental, but depends on deals in Q1 for delivery April. I am hoping Santa will bring me a crystal ball that knows Zoe residuals in 2023 (plan to keep 5 years) ;) Of course our plans may change with New Leaf reveal a few days away...

Probably my English language skill is sub-standard but am I the only one seeing that people are talking about different things?

The car has 5 main warranties:
- Car overall - mainland Europe this is 2 years, apparently UK is 4 years.
- Paint - 3 years
- Corrosion - 12 years
- Drive train - 5 years
- Battery - non-i models unlimited, i models limited to 8 years

The only difference between UK and mainland Europe is the car overall warranty duration.

The only difference between non-i and i models is the battery warranty.

You can see all your warranties if you log in to "My Renault" account and check your car's details. Even if you bought a second-hand Zoe, you can open an account on Renault's website, insert the VIN and then see all the details about the car.

You don't need any other documentation from any other source. What's in the My Renault account is the same information the Renault CS representative has access to and will report to you. Everything else is speculation.

I can't see this on my MyRenault account in the UK. The ZOE i tab only shows me the reg no., the current mileage and the forecast annual mileage. Should I look elsewhere?

I am fairly certain that the web sites that you need to access and what is provided on each vary depending on the country site you are accessing. In the UK you have to access three separate sites - see my post (#7) on How to prepare for the maiden voyage?. But for other countries it looks as though you can access more of this from the MyRenault site ...?

Interesting! I was under the general impression that there's only one website that's customizable for each language and for the front pages, but in the back they'd look the same. Anyhow, here are some screenshots from what I see (really sorry it's in German, but there's no way to change it to English).

After logging in:

Click on the yellow button to see all the car related details:

So far I think I see the same as you.

Are you able to scroll lower at this point? I can scroll and see the following:

- Links to R-Link store and My Z.E. Online
- Next service appointment
- Contracts - and under contracts I see the below information for warranties, plus extended warranty plus the Z.E. services contracted, similar to the below screenshot.

Is it really different on the UK site?

For me, the car-related details look like:

If I scroll lower then I don't see all the things you have listed:

I only get links for booking a service and for accessing manuals!

As per my post, in the UK I have to access separate sites (and set up separate accounts) for the R-Link store and for My Z.E. Online. ... Unless anyone knows how to set this all up on MyRenault.

3 years or 4 years Zoe warranty?
My wife has 65 plate Zoe Dynamique Nav first registered on 30/11/2015 and have been trying to get clarification about the length of the warranty so that I know when to extend it.
Renault Customer Services emailed the attached document to day which states that the vehicle warranty expires on 29/11/2018 which would be 3 years and not 4.
I have emailed back to get clarification.

My car does not exist on any Renault website I have tried - neither by reg nor by VIN :(

I've asked about it
