Picked up a new 40kwh Tekna today, an hour later after returning to the car, the centre screen did not come on. Turned off car, locked tried again, same thing, pressed every button known to man, still as dark as the night. Back to dealer, no radio, no maps, no cameras etc, several technicians and calls to Nissan, nobody has heard of this, has this happened to anyone out there? Cheers.

Check the user guide in case there is some way of turning off the screen or turning the brightness right down as you may need to guess where the touch screen buttons are to get it back again.

I'd take out the SD card altogether. Normally the head units then complain there is no SD card. Also unplug any USB devices plugged in anywhere.

I wouldn't be very impressed with a brand new car behaving like this at all.

UPDATE: Thank you for all you replies, I've googled this overnight and can't find it happening either. The dealer had the unit out, power is going to it and power is getting to the on/off switch but that's as much as they can tell. It actually died on the Nag screen at start up, with out accepting that you can't progress, so my thinking is its the boot sector of the drive that has failed.

Nissan UK want the unit back to investigate, so they have dispatched a new one, hopefully Wednesday, I don't think they have heard of 24 hour couriers! In the meantime the dealer has leant me a petrol car, so not used to using that pedal on the left, I think its called the brake. Just to rub salt into the wound, as they were handing over the keys to the ICE, they drove my old 30kw Tekna past me off to its photo shoot, that one never let me down!!!!!!!!!!!

I have Nissan Leaf 9 month old. No issue until now. Had same issue yesterday. Suddenly screen blank but car running ok.
I thought this as a computer issue with crap old windows 98 kind of software.
so switched off car and then restarted it. No use.
Then I switched off again. This time connected to EV charging cable and charges for 2-3 minutes. Disconnected it and restarted the car.
everything is fine and working.
seems like a software bug.
These car companies are not like Tesla which is technology company making car.

Has anyone had any luck with this? My head unit is doing the same thing (blank screen) so I took it to the garage. They said they've never heard of it on a Leaf before but had similar things on other Nissan's. They've had it for the morning and can't get it working. They're now quoting me over £1000 to send it off for a refurb, or £3000+ for a new one! It's a 18 plate so apparently it's not covered by warranty. I feel like a 4 year old car shouldn't have problems like this.

I have the same issue with my Leaf (2017). I bought it in February 2021 and in August 2021 the screen went blank. I took it to a Nissan dealer who after inspection said there was a loose wire, which they had fixed. Two weeks later the same thing occurred so I took it back to the dealer. They said they had looked at it again and fixed it. 5 months later the same thing occurred again. I wrote a letter of complaint to the Chief executive of Nissan but after numerous emails between us, thier stance was that I would have to pay for another diagnostic. What a shambles. Has anyone managed to definitively establish what the cause of this is?

Hi, since a few weeks my Nissan Leaf 40kW ZE1 from 2018 has the blank screen problem on the center navigation console. I went to the garage and they confirmed it is defective, the unit gets power from the vehicle. It occured during use of Android Auto and first restarted a few times then stayed black. I checked if the backlight is defective, but when illuminating with a phone light the pixels do not change when turned on. In the end I opened the unit and checked all the boards inside. They were all fine, and the power inside seemed to be good too (12V, 5V and 3.3V all good). I noticed that the current to the unit goes to a cycle (current briefly drops by ~20mA every few seconds). To me it seems that the memory that stores the firmware inside is defective and the controller keeps rebooting all the time before even showing the startup screen. Does anyone found or have a solution?
I wonder if anyone knows what repair costs from Clarion are (apparently they seem to be the only ones who can repair the units), or if I can safely install another Clarion unit with slightly different type code. My model of the display is 25915-5SJ0B. I noticed that there are many different types and do not know if I can install type 25915-5SJ1A.
Also what needs to be done to install a replacement unit?
