BTW, this is a screenshot of the "error" I get when trying to log into the unit. Is this the "normal" failed password error, or is it "different"? Would be v grateful if someone could give it a try! Its the message at the bottom which feels "wrong" to me. Could well just indicate that the unit isn't fully booted up (which of course, I already know!)

I don’t recognise that screen at all.
The following is what I get when logging in.
First screen takes email address and when that’s entered and sent, the second screen takes the code once I’ve copy and pasted it from my email.

That's the online portal login. The one I've shared is the login directly into the unit that you'd normally access via the local IP address (192.168.1.xxx). I can't remember what interesting stuff was available in there though!!

OK, so no joy by opening up the unit. There was no big red switch saying "reset" nor anything obviously loose or damaged inside, so knowing nothing about these things in truth I did the wise thing and screwed it back together.

One thing of real interest though is that the unit has a fascia plate which can be removed very easily (a screwdriver under the bottom lip, and then it pulls off all the way around). Once this is removed there will be a sticker on the next level; and on this sticker is the password for your unit that the original installer will have used so should be something more of an "admin" password. The username is "installer" and the password will be a combination of numbers and letters, in the same way as the "user" password was configured when you got the unit. I know this is the installer password because CS supplied me with it as part of their attempt to help me out with the device. I doubt in truth there is anything worth fiddling with in the settings, but it might be useful to someone at some point. One thing I might have done with the higher level of access would have been to enable the ethernet connection; there is an ethernet port inside the unit (as well as a USB and I think a SIM card slot) and I seem to remember when I was last looking at the firmware settings that there was a greyed out option to enable the ethernet port. I would have liked to at least have had the option today to plug in ethernet and see if that got me into the firmware (I tried it and got an unusable IP address).

So I'm stuck with my 10A granny charger for a while yet by the looks of things until Ohme can schedule the new install. Hopefully that will be swift!!

How much was the OHME and what was the install costs?
Looks like yours is now bricked and considering the amount of trouble you’ve had with it, I’d say you’ve made a wise choice to trash it and replace it with a better manufacturer of EVSE’s, after all, it wouldn’t take many call-outs to your BP Pulse in charges, before it’s cheaper to replace with a new model and manufacturer.

Probably my last post on this thread. Just curious, does the BP portal report the SOC of the car when it is plugged in? My memory must be playing tricks because I thought it did, but based on my new understanding of the Ohme set up I must be mistaken. I probably just assumed that there was some smart way of the car telling the charger how much charge it needs.

Anyway, new charger fitted which is good. Old charger is in fact still sitting on the wall because the Ohme guy discovered that at least one of the screws holding the BP device to the wall had been completed rounded off so he couldn't get it off. I can sort that at the weekend. And maybe even ebay the unit as "for parts"!

That was a quick response from Motability !
Did the Engineer have to run any additional cabling ?

No SOC details when plugged in or % charge options, unlike your new Ohme.

What model did they supply and please keep in touch with your experiences as we may have to go down a similar path.

Edit Just seen your new thread...

Yep, very impressed with the pace. Don't know if I got lucky with a cancelled appointment but I suppose the "survey" stuff meant it was an easy fix as there were no issues with adding a new fuse or smart meter concerns etc.

No new cabling required too so that meant it was a quick job.

Now just need to get used to the slightly odd way of working that ohme / octopus delivers with the MG because the charger has no idea how much SOC is in the battery. I may see whether putting a timer on in the car simplifies things, even though I'm well aware that the normal advice is "choose to configure charging either on the car or on the charger but not both".

Surprised that the ohme is not a WiFi client, just 3/4g. But I'm in a good signal area generally for all networks so that ought not to be an issue.

There's one screw that holds the charger to the wall bracket, its behind the unit in the most inaccessible place ever, in addition it is a hex screw so you need the right size Allen key.
It was cold and I quickly lost patience and used a crow bar instead, the bracket is a bit bent and twisted.
I've just done exactly the same thing CM out and Ohme Home Pro in, cost me ÂŁ374 all in:)

That's exactly the screw the guy was talking about. Will have a look at the weekend.
Did you sell on your CM unit? I doubt there is really much of a market for them, but I could see someone paying ÂŁ30 for a unit to re-use perhaps a damaged part / cable. Not quite sure of the legalities in terms of whose it actually is though in my case, as it was Motability fitted. Maybe I'll check that out first; can't imagine Motability want a broken one back!

How long had you had the EVSE fitted under the Motability scheme?
I understand you’ve had many problems with it, but interested to know how far past the 3 year warranty yours was.
Good luck with the OHME. 👍

July / August 2020 was the first evse fitted I think. Original BP device was replaced once under warranty and then that oval white one was replaced again at 2 years 11 months! The one that's just been replaced has been in for about 18 months therefore, so about 4.5 years in total since first installation. BP said 3 year warranty period which feels pretty standard. I don't know if motability have a continuing expectation of supporting households with EVSE devices though; at some point surely they'll say that it is up to the household to finance that.

Its in a storage box at the moment, loathe to sell it as it only cost me ÂŁ50 5 or 6 years ago, in fact I bought two for ÂŁ100. One was fitted in my garage the other was turned into a 32A (7Kw) EVSE, basically added a short length of 6mm2 cable to one of the phases of a 3 phase supply and before anyone starts giving me grief it was/is used occasionally in a private workshop,

I saw the black case and assumed it was the shell of the BP Pulse unit I had - but it was the white oval one you had?

Got the bugger off the wall on Sunday; had to drill out the head of the allen bolt, but other than that no damage done to the unit. I'm guessing I can't just wire it into the mains and see if it powers up properly off a 13A plug just to test the wifi side of things etc.

Fingers crossed I’ve now eliminated the issues with my wall box stopping and starting the charge continuously until I disconnect it, couldn’t have been good for the car.
Mine was connected with an Ethernet cable so there shouldn’t have been any connection issues however they and the government were continually adding schedules when I had the unit schedules turned off, so I didn’t check for them which meant it would start and stop charging every few minutes, so I’ve disconnected the Ethernet cable and gone full on dumb charger. Charged three times now without issues.
Nothing to lose as I’m not having a so called smart meter so no EV tariffs to worry about, just plug and charge as and when I want too.
