Can you please share the recorded sound with us, if this is not too much trouble?
I haven't listened to it, it's on my phone. I'll try to have a listen and see what it's like.
It must be good enough for Kia to identify the problem as its booked in for 3 days from the 10th. Its the grease issue and the guy on the phone said they have had a similar thing on the Sorento. I was asking if was OK to drive as it's making a noise most of the time now. He said if it's the problem he thought it was it's only slight movement between two splines and shouldn't be an issue. He didn't seem too concerned, if it's worn they will replace the worn parts.

I am really happy that I found this thread. The clicking noise and ”dirty brake” noise are present on my Niro EV during lower speed acceleration and deceleration, but were not present until a few weeks ago; I thought I was going insane. I will be contacting my dealer and will direct them to this thread. Thank you very much for all of the posts here.

This my recording of the tapping sound. It is heard at speeds below 10mph and only when the accelerator is depressed. Can the others please confirm if this is what they hear in the e-Niro or Kona?
Yes, that matches exactly the sound I hear from my Niro when coasting at about 8 mph. A sort of tapping, drumming noise. See post on previous page here.

The sound from mine is different, and it's only when accelerating. Listening to it with headphones mine is higher pitched and hard to hear in the recording at slow speeds. At slow speeds it does sound very similar but the noise can be heard at faster speeds as well but becomes higher pitched and more of a constant drone.
It has got worse since I took the video so I'll take another before it goes in next Wednesday.
We are on holiday at the moment so not going to be this week, and the main reason I haven't uploaded anything so far.

I have made a recording but it's not that easy to hear and wasn't that easy to pick up the sound on my phone. I think it must resonate through the car as it seems much easier to hear while driving than it sounds on the recording.
All I need is for someone to explain how to add the file to a post, I can't attach a WAV file

You can convert the wav file to MP3 or m4a and then put in a zip file. Zip files can be attached to posts in the forum.

There's a strong possibility that your phone is of the noise cancelling type - having several microphones to enable reduction of general background noise when making a phone call. See the short explanation in the section entitled "Inside your phone" here -

I was being lazy and hoping there would be an easy way to attach it. Can I zip a wav file and attach it? I had a brief look last night at zipping the file but couldn't see how.
It could be the noise cancelling, but it sounds more like the background noise is much lower than I think it is so it's drowning out the click above about 15mph

My car went in this morning too hopefully be fixed.

It was particularly loud yesterday and even happening when driving, not just when slowing down.

Then we significantly quieter on the run back from Asda when I tried to record it.

I've got a full 10 mins recording I will cut out a few seconds of the clip and post later.

How did you get on?
I've just collected mine and it's not making the noise when accelerating now, but it is with reasonably heavy regen. It needs foot fully off accelerator on level 2 or level 3.
Heavy braking and it's as loud or louder than it was at its worst before.

I'm thinking the lining up that needs to be done needs to be quite precise and it's been overdone. Either that or there is slight wear and it's not possible to get it lined up so there's no noise anymore.

I haven't told them yet as I collected it after work and only just got there before the service manager finished for the day. I'll have to call him in the morning but not feeling very confident about it at the moment. Having spent what is to me a large sum of money on a car I'm not happy with how it's working out at the moment.

Sorry to hear that bud.

Today marks day 5 of 3 for me.
I got a call at lunchtime to say that they have now had to order parts which they should get on Monday.

When I last called for an update on Wednesday afternoon they were on the 2nd attempt at the realignment...

Dealer is saying they are in constant contact with Kia though

After a few more miles it's making the noise with even slight regen, occasionally there's a slight noise when coasting, very occasionally it's just noticable when accelerating up a slight hill.

It's now worse than it was before it went in

If it's adjustment mine doesn't have any more adjustment to make and they have it as close as they think they can get it.

Here is the recording.
The noise in getting is pretty clear on that section.

My dealer is Flear & Thompson in Dunfermline

I'll try again find out what parts they have had to order add get as much info as I can whenever I get the car back http:https://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5d2918b73c3b4/Clicking.mp3.zip

Yep, that's the same noise as mine. I have an audio only recording and I took a video the day before it went in. I'll try and get one of those online but we have family over all weekend and I'm in the middle of refitting the kitchen and on hols again next week. I need to change the format of the audio, and prob reduce the quality so it's a smaller file.

I've just called to talk to the service manager but he's not in today. I'm not happy at all at the moment, it's worse than it was. I thinking about rejecting the car at the moment.

Just picked my car up.

I didn't get to speak to the technician. He was heading out with a customer when I arrived.

I'm not sure what changed from yesterday lunchtime when they had to order parts to getting a call at 8:51 this to tell me the car was ready.

The dealer is less than a mile from my house so I've not tested it properly yet, There is a very slight intermittent hum when driving which in probably hearing because I'm listening for it, but no noise on slowing down :)

About to head into Edinburgh then across to Glasgow so will have a decent rub to see if it's really gone :)

The service manager would only day that it was the alignment add that they just had to keep rotating the reduction gear as directed by Kia technical until it lined up properly.

I paid for the map update while they had the car in the workshop & commented that it was kinda cheeky of Kia to put out a new car with a map that was 2 years out of date and then charge for an update.

When I made the point that the Queensferry crossing was not compete on the original map his response was "aye along as that's on there most folk are nae bothered" which I thought was somewhat missing the point...
