Ioniq 5 58Kwh premium owner. Car has developed a rattle over uneven surfaces in boot / trunk area. Almost sounds like loose trim or boot latch. It is not related to rear seat belts as they are isolated already. Also noting driver window rattle / vibration when window is down. Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

Is there any chance this is one of your two towing "eye rings"?
I know in Canada the car is supplied with two, and they can be anywhere in the back trunk area, even getting into the pit behind the back seat, down near the floor level. I had to remove a partition behind the back seat to find them on my car, after someone else in the forum suggested that to me.

I had exactly what you describe on my car twice now. In both cases it was the rubber and plastic bumpers on the hatch and the body of the car rubbing against each other. The dealer applied some silicone grease to the parts and it was an instant fix (until it wears off and you have to take it back to have it reapplied).

I've an annoying rattle that I also thought was coming from the rear seat / boot. However, after some investigation I discovered it is it the passenger side rear sunblind which rattles inside the door when it's retracted. Solved it temporarily by driving with it extended all the time. I've not had the best experience with rattle repairs on my Tesla (they made them far worse!) so I'm still debating whether I'll bother taking the Ioniq to the dealer for a fix.

I have my car now for 3 days and I have the same problem it is driving me nuts and as everyone says it is spoiling an otherwise good experience I hate rattles and I have tried everything removed everything from the boot but it still there think I will have to take it in as I can’t put up with it for much longer has anyone else had a fix for this problem.

mine makes (and always has done) a kind of 'croaking' noise when going over a sleeping policeman or similar sized road imperfection. it doesn't do it when there's rear seat passengers or when the boot is full of stuff but does do it when the rear seats are down but there's no stuff in the boot so I think its something to do with the mechanism which holds the seats upright. it's not seat belts in my case because the croaks are there when the rear belts are clipped without any passengers

Hi guys i think i might of managed to cure this problem the other day i noticed that the 2 stoppers on each side of the tailgate where uneven one was screwed right in and the other only about half way so i screwed them both in as tight as i could this made the issue far worse so the rattle got worse than ever so i unsrewed both until they where almost removed and then screwed them back in about a full turn and now no more rattles it seems to of done. The trick thought id share this with you.

Thanks so much - this helped diagnose my rattle and its nearly gone following adjustment. I think these lugs can be pushed in if you’ve fully loaded your boot space and give your boot lid a shuvv to close it…….at least I think that caused my issue where one lug was fully retracted and had to be unscrewed to match the other side.

Hi evryone.
So after 8 months truggling with the trunk rattling problem i think I finally got it solved.
So yes, the 2 stoppers on the trunk door need to be adjusted and it solved almost all the problem…. But it was coming back sometimes.
yesterday i was at my hyundai dealer and asked uf they had a solution from hyundai and he said still no.
But he told me another owner did another mod and it seems to have resolved the problem for good.

so here is the solution. You need to buy 4 bolt washers ( i bought those that do not rust) to the trunk door. 2 on each side like here.

and this solved the problem. No more noise at all!!!!!
Drove the car on bumps bad road etc… just to see if noise would come back. But no, the car sounds perfect now finally!!

i don’t understand why hyundai techs or engineers were not able to diagnose and come ip with this solution and that it took people like us to try and fix there problem.

i hope this suits you well.

I've been following this forum and thank goodness for all the suggestions here. Here's a quick summary of what I did in order and so not 100% sure which thing I did that actually solved the issue. I thought that I would share for everyone else's benefit.

1. Started with the rubber washers. After installing these, I went for a drive and no significant changes. I left them on since no change and it was not easy to unscrew/screw the bolts.
2. Adjusted the bump stops a few turns left or counter-clockwise. Went for a drive and that seemed to help a little. I also added a very thin piece of easy remove mounting dots where the bump stop catches the bumper: Scotch 18ct Restickable Mounting Dots
3. Added duct tape (small piece) around the front latch. My wife drove the car first and she said there were no sounds. I drove it next and yeah, no sounds.

Prior to trying all these solutions, my wife did call around to different service departments to see if they've heard of any this. Some said that no one has complained. Another department mentioned that a number of owners have complained about it and they have not been able to resolve the issue but that they are expecting some sort of solution from Hyundai in the form of some sort of voluntary recall.

Want to thank everyone's suggestions here, could not have resolved it without everyone's help!

As per @buenospot above - thanks very much for all the suggestions on here - so helpful. The rattling in my boot has been driving me nuts, but it now appears to have stopped. So for the benefit of other Ioniq drivers losing the will to live every time they drive over a bump, here's what worked for me...

First I tried loosening/tightening/adjusting the stoppers either side (second image above) - no joy. Then I taped some gaffer tape to the metal hook that secures the boot (In the middle - bottom image above) to try and dampen any noise - no joy. Finally, I stuck some felt on the two plastic bits either side (first image above) - the rattling has stopped.

Here's hoping that's the end of it...
