On page one there was discussion about whether BMW has a degradation warranty. I looked around and it appears they have it only in Canada.

I can't find the same information on any other country website. However I found a PDF file on their Denmark website to an international flyer from 2013 for the i3. They removed this part from their current flyers. Go to this page. Scroll all the way down and click on BMW i3 flyer (PDF, 3 MB). Info not available on the i8 flyer.

To me that PDF link looks like something they have forgotten to remove. My speculation is that BMW first set the floor at 70% capacity on their international print material. They wanted to further specify the exact percentage on their country specific material after legal review. But they discovered they didn't need to do that except in Canada and backtracked on their claim. Another possibility is that BMW doesn't want to bring the issue to the attention of an unaware buyer except in countries where market research shows higher buyer awareness.

Update 1: On BMW UK web page for the i8 here it says the following:

The same information is not available on their i3 page which is here. Either BMW is hiding that information intentionally or they are doing a poor job advertising about it.

Update 2: Of course everybody here knows about the Nissan Leaf battery capacity warranty but for readers who didn't know, here is a screenshot from this page.

Update 3 (23 Apr 2015): A screenshot from Tesla warranty PDF File: Source
To find the warranty document:
1. Go to Tesla Motors | Premium Electric Vehicles
2. Click on "Model S"
3. Click on "Specs"
4. Scroll down and click on "All specifications"
5. Scroll down and click the link where it says "8 year, unlimited mile battery and drive unit warranty"

At yesterdays electric car event the BMW i8 sales person assured me the battery had a 8 year, 100,000 mile, 70% degradation warranty.

However, my tweets to BMWi and the UK sales people requesting a link to the warranty have remained unanswered. I do have a direct BMW contact who I'll try and get some answers from... all very odd

Edit: some feedback from BMW in this thread;

"The day will come when someone, or a group of someones, will sue Tesla over lack of disclosure about battery degradation. Look, there are a lot of ill informed people who buy these cars. I can bet more than a few of them have no idea that batteries degrade over time and will expect their range numbers to stay the same in 8 years. I'm just saying that it will happen at some point and Tesla should make it more clear that the car will lose some range over time. Right now, I can't find that information anywhere. I also don't remember Tesla telling me anything about battery degradation at the time I purchased my car. I just know that batteries degrade and that it's a facto of life. Someone else may not know that."

What are Mercedes doing as I think they are using Tesla batteries and running gear?
Which car?

AFAIK they were only contracted to deliver 1000 prototype Smart ForTwo drivetrains and the production version used a different solution (certainly the 2013 Smart ForTwo taken to pieces at EVCCON did not have Tesla parts).

As for the proposed B-Class I don't know if that exists today and whether it's anything more than a California compliance car.

The B class

From Autocar Jan 2014...Don’t get too excited, though, because you won't be able to secure one in right-hand drive guise in the UK for at least another year. However, left-hand drive versions of the practical hatchback-cum-MPV are planned to go on sale across North America in June and in various European countries from October,

To me that reads as it will be comming here in Jan 2014 and is already for sale in Europe, but where ever its for sale Mercedes must have some kind of warrantee:confused:
