I called EVEZY to ask a few questions. So, you can charge at home with no issues, but they give you a Polar Network subscription, so you can use these chargers free of charge. You can charge anywhere else, but you have to pay if there is a fee. They are trying to run a full subscription model as this is where most people think that the future of cars will be, especially when they are self driving. I did a bit of googling and they are a tech start-up with 'seed-funding', maybe someone else can do a bit more digging.

The challenge for me is that they don't give you a key, but you open and close the car with an app. Now, I don't know anyone else experiences with apps, but they don't always work and if you don't have a 3G or 4G signal for example, where we live you are knackered! Also, I can't imagine being happy in the rain with shopping bags waiting for the the app to work. I think that they need to rethink this. I can see that it gives them control over the fleet, but they should be able to do this and also hand out keys.

I am quite interested as they are talking about new models at a low price. The questions I have are: how long is the price fixed for (will they increase it) and the whole app thing to open the car is a bit of a faff. I will ask them and report back.

Doing remote unlock via the normal bmw app can take a few minutes.
Yes, this was a similar experience with the MB250e. Only did it a couple of times to test it out, but not ideal. Unless they have an NFC chip, which would be fine (until your phone loses charge), but their site then says you can call them (on someone else's phone I assume).

I have got some more information. The keyless entry works by holding the details on your phone app, as long as you access the web on the app every 24 hours. This sounds OK, but I would like to see a video of someone using it.

The downside to the insurance is that they have fleet insurance, so you don't get to keep any NCB. I think that this is something they need to look at.

Anyway, they sound very friendly, helpful and are very responsive. I for one wish them well....and who knows, I may give them a whirl.

So, I have asked a few more questions and I suppose my only concern is that you have no idea where the monthly pice is going to end. The contract will say that they 'reserve the right to amend rates, rate structures, terms and credits with reasonable notice'. That could mean that you are stuck with either a price hike or no car at quite short notice.

This is a subscription service and most subscriptions are clear about price increases e.g. phones on an annual basis:

O2: "Each year your Monthly Subscription Charges will be subject to an annual adjustment by the RPI Rate, (which could be an increase or a decrease) and be announced in the February preceding the RPI Change, and the adjusted amount will appear on your April bill."

It's an interesting offer. I thought they wouldn't be new at those prices.

Is there a minimum term? I could see it could be good to have one for a month or two to see if that particular model would be suitable.

Insurance if it is included has what excess?

Do they have any idea how devious thieves are?!
No minimum term. Cars are new or up to 6 months old (the i3's are all 42kw 2019 models). Not sure about insurance excess, but I don't think they are too concerned about thieves as all the cars are trackable. You do have to use a dash cam which is provided.

I have asked a lot of questions, but it looks like there are still some more to consider.

The website says the i3 is a 2018 94Ah 33kWh model... this is also backed up by their comparison post on their blog.

Apologies if you have contacted them and they have told you they are the 42kWh models but I thought I should mention! In that case they need to update the website :p

i3 page: EVezy Electric Car Subscriptions - BMW i3 - Priced at ÂŁ399 per month
blog post: Electric cars comparison guide: Renault Zoe R110 vs BMW i3 - EVezy
I think that they must be behind on updating the web pages as this page says 42kw. Looking at one of the emails they sent, they have 2018 and 2019 i3. I can't imagine people selecting the 2018 then.

Looking at the contracts now. There is a ÂŁ1000 excess if you have an accident and the dash cam shows that you are in the wrong.

I think that it looks really interesting as a model, but at the same time, it is the first step to being monitored 100% of the time. They track the car, they can monitor when you open and close it through the app and the dash cam has a visual capture of your behaviour. Its more than a black box for 17 year olds.

I haven't had an accident, so I am vey low risk. But, I can imagine that in this car if someone hit you and you were above the speed limit, you'll be paying ÂŁ1000.

I'm not sure if I want to go Big Brother yet, but it is where we are heading with driverless cars, so perhaps its just time to embrace it?

What does "access the app on the web" mean?

Does the app require Internet connectivity with the car, or does it use Bluetooth/private wifi between car and phone? The latter solves the "underground car park with no signal" issue?
So apparently, you need to connect the app to the web every 24 hours. I assume that this will mean that you open an app on your phone when it has wifi, 3G or 4G. Then it 'holds' the key in the app for 24 hours, so you can open and close your car easily. That's what they have said, but I would like to see it used or get some feedback from users.

There are no videos of this in action and I can't see any discussion of users online. To be honest, I am surprised that the company has not been discussed on this forum in the past.

IMPORTANT:

If anyone goes ahead with the EVEZY subscription, remember to post your loyalty code on here as you will get ÂŁ50 and the next person will get ÂŁ50.

Simply put, no.
Like a leaf or other connected car, if you can't operate the remote climate control and such then the unlock won't work.
I will bet it has better reception than most mobile phones but still it's not designed for those out in the sticks whobon average cover more miles anyway but more for those in the cities and suburbs
OK, so I have not got one of these and I haven't seen them, but when I called they said that you can open the car when you don't have internet connection. They say that each day you need to log in once and the phone will hold the 'key' for 24 hours, so you don't need to access the web again. I assume that they must have a local area network from the car?

I asked them the 'in the sticks scenario' and they say you will be fine.... if you have accessed the app online in the last 24 hours. They specifically say you can open or close without internet connection. I have googled around a bit and they have their own programmers who have developed the app.

I would still like to see it working though.

They don’t seem desperate for business. I emailed them on Tuesday and still haven’t heard anything. I’ll ring them at some point...I’m not in a rush my deal ends in March. But it’s pretty poor that they haven’t got back to me.
I get the feeling that they are clearing every batch of cars they get through. They certainly don't seem to be trying to push them.

It reads differently to me but this, if true would indicate that it's a Bluetooth connection.
I know the BMW can do all this via the connected app anyway but not sure about the Zoe or such.
I wouldn't be happy if it was a WiFi connection on the vehicle either...
It may be as simple as it uses NFC built into the car and you rap rap your phone to the door. I wonder what phones it supports...
I really don't know how it works, but I am just feeding back what they have said. I thought that it could be NFC, but then they would have to state a minimum spec for the phones. It could be bluetooth as you have said.

Had an offer of ÂŁ1000/down ÂŁ240/month on the Soul. Any better deals than that?
That sounds good, depending on number of years and mileage per year. Could you post and also let us know where it is from as I know someone who maybe looking for one.

The best I can see on leasing.com is: KIA Soul Hatchback

I signed up today not realising the locations are only London, Birmingham and Milton Keynes!

No use to me being in the Lake District....

They do say they deliver so sent and enquiry but I'm guessing it will be a no or a sizable cost to deliver.

I also asked about the keys as it says on the website you open them with the app, no mention of how you then get it going.
Read back a few pages on this thread, plenty of discussion about this.

I have just signed up and have to wait 24 to 48 hours to see if I’m accepted. They have already given me a referral code (d6540).

Subscription is minimum 30 days. You pay the monthly fee at the beginning of your contract and then on that date each subsequent month. If you want to cancel at the end of the first month you have to give 10 days notice ie let them know before day 20. After that you can cancel at any time and will be refunded for the remainder of that month once you’ve handed the car back.

I’ll keep you informed about how it pans out.
Thanks, I am keen, but there were a few red flags, but I expect that some of these are due to them being a start-up. One of my issues is that they can put the price up at pretty much anytime when I looked at the contract. Usually if you have a 2 year lease etc, the price is static.

The other is about insurance. You can fix the high excess by taking out cover for this. But, I am concerned about lack of maintaining your NCB. Usually when you lease/hire with insurance, the company will at least give you a letter at the end saying that you have driven for x period with no claims. EVEZY don't have any idea about this.

At least they have most of their website fixed now. There was a lot of bugs (still a couple).

Have you been to try out the phone app to see how it works in practice. It is a real shame to loose the keyless entry to the Zoe.

I filled out the application and insurance documents online last night at around 10pm. There’s a one off fee of £9.99 for that. Got confirmation that I have been accepted at 10.30 this morning. Rang them after work at 3pm. Picking Zoe R110 up this Friday at 1pm from Kings Cross, London. It’s all happened very quickly ! Who said there’s a long wait before you can get an ev !!

Anyway better not count my chickens etc. I’ll let you know how it goes on Friday. Don’t forget my referral code folks. £50 off your first subscription and £50 off mine. Win win !
Yes, no problems at all, will use the code if I sign up.

Fair point about the catchment area. Hopefully as they expand they will set up more bases from where their cars can be picked up and dropped off. I didn’t see any member of staff when I picked mine up. They simply told me where they had left it and I was able to gain access using their app. A bit like picking up a vehicle from a Car Club.

I’ve had no issues using the app for opening and locking the car. It’s true it’s a pity not to have the option of pre-heating the car with the key fob. On a positive note it’s great not having to worry about losing keys. Most people have their phone with them at all times so it’s one less thing to carry.

The dash cam is managed by a third party company. EVezy only ask to see footage (no sound is recorded) if there has been an incident that they are investigating. Otherwise no one is monitoring you or your driving. More and more people are installing dash cams so fault can be more easily determined following an accident.
Could you please let us know how you get on with the 'electronic key'? It is one of the stumbling blocks for me. Particularly when doing pick ups and drop offs and in a hurry. The Zoe has keyless entry which is great.

Do you have the app to heat and pre-condition? I would really need this as where I work, we try and move the cars when we are charged so others can use it. I get a text when the Zoe is charged and this is linked to the app.
